We love February around here because of two big events; the Super Bowl, and the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. If you are a dog-lover, you probably look forward to the show as much as we do.

Malachy the Pekingese Wins the 2012 WKC Dog Show!
Congratulations to Malachy and his owner
According to the owner, Malachy has attended about 150 shows during the past year, and has 115 best in shows...wow, Malachy! That is great!
Malachy is 1 of 4 Pekingese that have won the annual WKC dog show since 1990.
Malachy and his owner took two months to rest before heading to the Westminster Kennel Club dog show, and after making the rounds visiting various TV shows and many photo opps, we hope Malachy enjoys a nice long rest....and we hope you enjoy videos of Malachy at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show below.

BuckHawk, at 9am on February 9, 2011 predicts:
I would love, just once, to see a really large breed win, but alas, I don't really think that will happen!
WhippetGood, at 6pm on February 5, 2011 predicts:
Most likely it will either be the Smooth Fox Terrier, Dodger, or the Pekingese, Malachy. Both were neck-and-neck for number 1 dog all breeds last year. HOWEVER, Westminster has had a few underdog upsets recently (the most obvious one being Stump from a couple of years ago), so who know....all I know is I will be routing for my breed, the Whippet (whoever takes BOB, either Tawny or Chanel as they've been pretty close in rankings recently, and BOTH are in the top 10 dogs all breeds this year!), or the gorgeous imported Pharaoh Hound, Qing!
KebiPharaohHound, at 7pm on October 11, 2010 predicts:
The Pharaoh Hound - it has been a stellar year across the country with BIS honors for this Breed....its a longshot, but I think it will happen
happynutritionist, at 11pm on February 16, 2010 predicts:
I predicted my own dog's breed, the Yorkshire Terrier would win the 2010 show, but the Yorkie has been topped by the Scottish Terrier, Sadie. Oh well, at least it was a Terrier:) Congratulations, Sadie!
Susan52, at 7pm on February 4, 2010 predicts:
A yellow Labrador retriever that looks like my Daisy!
OhMe, at 1pm on February 4, 2010 predicts:
The English Bulldog or I think they may have changed the name to the American Bulldog.

- She does seem to be a gentle giant. I learn so much about the different breeds and their dispositions by watching the show, it's not a bad idea to watch if you're considering getting a dog because they do a good job of describing their character. Glad your LARGE breed wish came true:-)

- LOL, that is funny...oh that dog training could be as simple as that, I'd have Aspen looking at "Dog Whisperer" and other similar shows on a regular basis if it worked, but my experience has been the same as yours...in fact she looks rather rejected when I'm watching other dogs:-)

- We are all (both human and dog) looking forward to this year's show. We watch it every year! And thrilled that the Redbone Coonhound is now "official." The BuckHawk Center's most difficult rescue was a Redbone and what a great dog he turned out to be. As the Official Squid Angel for the sub-category Dogs, this has been blessed and featured on Angel Flys Over Dog Lenses. And thanks from all of us!

- We are looking forward to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. We haven't ever shown a dog at any dog show but do enjoy watching them. Our dog is the last of our English Bulldogs that we used to breed and raise. She is 11 yrs old and very set in her ways. Her name is Miss PittyPat and she has a face that only a mother could love but we all do love her.
