What are Normal Blood Sugar Levels?

The main energy source for us humans is a form of sugar better known as glucose.

This energy source is derived from foods which contain carbohydrates. The naturally occurring hormone we have in our bodies called insulin is our natural way of regulating the glucose levels.

But what are normal blood sugar levels?

In the average person, the levels are normally between 70mg and 150mg. These levels vary depending on the time of day, typically being lower in the morning and rising after we have eaten.

If the level falls below 70mg, then we have low blood sugar otherwise known as hypoglycaemia. And if the level is raised above the 150mg mark, then it is known as high blood sugar or hyperglycaemia.

Having Low Blood Sugar Levels

Having low levels of sugar can be dangerous. The body usually responds by being lethargic, irritable and other signs which may include dizziness or falling unconscious.
