Treating a Yeast Infection Naturally is Best

Though there are many over the counter yeast infection treatments, they are not always the best choice.

By using a natural cure for yeast infection you are not only choosing a more effective method, but one that is better for your body.

What is a Yeast Infection?

Yeast infections are a very common type of infection which mainly plagues females, though some men may be prone to it as well. It is simply caused by an overgrowth of yeast organisms that usually live in small numbers. The symptoms of a yeast infection are itchiness, soreness and a burning sensation. There are many factors that can make you more prone to yeast infections, such as:
  • Taking antibiotics, such as penicillin
  • Having high estrogen levels
  • During pregnancy
  • When using a high-level birth control pill
  • Having diabetes that is not well controlled
  • Wearing a wet bathing suit
  • Being overweight

Natural Yeast Infection Treatments

Don't have the same side effects as store bought kits and keeps your body free from the harmful chemicals in most store bought yeast infection treatments.

Yeast Infection Treatments

There are several treatments available for a yeast infection. If the infection is mild than the symptoms will often clear up on their own when menstruation begins. If not than there are several over-the-counter treatments available, as well as prescription treatments.

It is advised that a doctor be seen if it a first yeast infection, a recurring infection or if you are pregnant.

There are also several natural ways to help clear up and prevent future yeast infections, such as:
  • Eating a healthy, well balanced diet, rich in vegetables, fruit and whole grains
  • Using sanitary napkins, rather than tampons during menstruation
  • Taking a warm bath with 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar added to it
  • Avoiding the use of soap in the infected area

Caution:

A yeast infection should never be accompanied by a fever and if it is it is recommended that you see a doctor right away, as it is probably something other than a yeast infection. It is also advised that you see a doctor if the infection has not cleared up after the course of one treatment.

The best way to get rid of yeast infection is to go natural. Over the counter products are too expensive and don't work on the long term.
