What Exactly is the Cost to Deport Illegal Aliens?
Ranked #34,802 in Culture & Society, #766,996 overall
In the first House immigration subcommittee of the current Congress, it's finally being revealed to the American Taxpayer how much it costs to deport one single illegal alien.
According to the LA Times, the cost just for a single deportation: $12,500. Seriously.
In the course of the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Immigration Policy and Enforcement hearings entitled "ICE Worksite Enforcement - Up to the Job?", Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deputy director Kumar Kibble testified that 393,000 illegals in 2010 alone were deported at a total cost of almost $5 billion. That's a 5 followed by 9 zeros.
At least one GOP member of the subcommittee jumped up and landed with both feet directly on Barack Hussein Obama and the Democrats who ran the previous Congress.
In an interview with the Ventura County Star, Representative Elton Gallegly stated, "The Obama administration's strategy clearly does a grave disservice to American workers."
Gallegly also stressed that worksite enforcement must ensure "those jobs that are available go to Americans and legal immigrants."
There is an estimated 11 - 20 million illegal aliens in the United States at this time.
Some conservatives have questioned the policy of deportation, and have instead advocated severe punishments for employers who knowingly and willingly hire illegal aliens instead or Americans or legal aliens.
