What I want for 2012
Ranked #9,156 in Culture & Society, #185,324 overall
My Dream for the Future
The contentment is primarily for me but, if compassion and caring are exercised, we all end up getting our own little bit.
It's no good hoping for wild happiness and soaring joy. If that sort of thing ever happens outside of storybooks, it's a very temporary state and we would all be better off aiming for contentment.
Being content is good. We become grateful for what we have. From this blissful state all of us can put our minds to making the world a better place. A world in which we all live in harmony with each other, harmony with all species and harmony with Nature herself.
Is this too much to ask? Even a cat can dream
Contentment
Live longer
It's no secret that I'm very happy being alive. I know what it's like to feel the Grim Reaper stand at my shoulder with his scythe about to do the dirty work. Believe me. I appreciate each new day.
What I want is do is nap gently in my patch of shade under the tree dahlias, waking at hourly intervals for a small and tasty meal hand-prepared by the woman who feeds me. I appreciate her humble servitude and I show this by performing those jobs decreed by Nature. We all have to work and, even if you don't like your job you can still undertake your duties in a manner which gives you pride. Pride in yourself is a necessity for a long and fruitful life.
I do my bit. I relentlessly keep down any rodent incursion on the compost bins. I give the kookaburras a laugh by staring at them savagely through slitted eyes. I greet visitors. I keep the woman's blood pressure down. I share the love around.
Keep your eyes on the heavens but remember that as long as you have a roof over your head, enough to eat and the company of a friend, you have no need of physical baubles. You don't have to show off a better cat basket than the Siamese next door.
Count your blessings. Be content. Live longer.
All creatures treated with respect
Great and Small
Countless species have become extinct because of habitat destruction and direct killing. Many more are in dire danger like this beautiful young cheetah.
All I want for 2010 is compassion for life on our planet.
It's hard to imagine that in the year of 2010 there are still some people who wear fur coats! I have quite a good one myself (with only a few grey hairs) but I have no desire to be stalked, slaughtered and skinned so some insert word here can drape my epidermis carelessly over a shoulder. Would you want to be flayed?
Compassion means compassion for all species, not just your own.
Respect for other living creatures is the highest form of intelligence.on the evolutionary ladder.
Hey! Let's show some compassion here!
Caring for the future
Think about your animal companion

People like to get a small cat or dog. You see a lot of this activity around Christmas, it's beyond me why this is so but it's a well known phenomenon. It's also well known that people are plagued with poor memories.
People forget these cute little bundles of fur grow up.
They forget that all creatures have a right to be respected for what they are.
And people forget that cats and dogs breed.
I wish that very animal companion owner was responsible. I wish they would have their anipals desexed. (I've never looked back since my little op). What happens to all those thousands of unwanted kittens and puppies otherwise? I shudder to think about it. Every little creature has the right to be wanted. Do your bit and desex your pets!

Sitting Dingo Soft Plush Toy (40cm) - $ 25.60
It would be a lot easier if people who don't really have the time to care for an animal companion picked up one of these faux friends instead.
Here we have a large Sitting Plush Toy Dingo - the one and only wild Australian dog!
His name is Ralph and he sits at a huge 40cm in height - a quality gift of a native animal from Australia.
The people who can look after wild animals are few and far between but some can't even cope with a common cur. Ralph is a better idea.
Add it to a dingo Tee-shirt for an extra special idea.

- Some most sensible ideas here. Most people, faced with the genie, would wish for money, power and to be irresistible. Of course, we know that you, as a cat, have no need for the third wish as all cats are naturally irresistible. And you have no pockets for money, and already have enough staff to serve you well. Just the same, I like your 3 wishes far better. With a little Contentment, Compassion and Caring from us all this world would be a far better place.

- I wholeheartedly embrace every idea you have stated, ummmm except "relentlessly keep down any rodent incursion." In spite of the fact that you wish to "keep down" my species, I am still going to give you Angel Blessings for your creativity and I really do agree with everything else you said:) Oh, yes and just to totally flip you out, I am adding you to my Squid Angel Mouse Tracks lens in the hope that you will let me live:)
