4-H!

What is 4-H? Maybe you are visiting this lens because you are a 4-H nerd. Or, maybe you have never heard of 4-H. Maybe you have heard of 4-H, but your first reaction was "I don't have a sheep or a cow or a pig.... nor am i interested in raising one." This is the first impression many people get about 4-H. However, though the roots of 4-H were grounded in agriculture, 4-H has grown to reach out into MANY other interests. No matter what your hobby or interest, chances are 4-H has a spot for you in one of the project categories. So take a look around at this lens to get a feel for what exactly 4-H is, then get involved!

So....What Is 4-H?

In a nutshell, 4-H is a nationwide program, created to develop the youth of America and to teach them lifeskills, and how to become better citizens and leaders. However, you cannot define 4-H in a nutshell. That is why I created this lens! I want to tell you more about 4-H. If you have heard of 4-H, then chances are that you think 4-H is about farming. Is this true? To an extent, yes. If you are into agriculture or farming or raising sheep or cows or pigs or chickens, then 4-H has a place for you! But... if you are into computers, photography, communications, leadership, dogs, arts and crafts, nutrition and fitness, or nearly anything else, 4-H also has a place for you!

There are several projects you can choose from. Almost any hobby or interest you have can be categorized under one of the 26 project categories! Once you choose a project, your goal is to learn all you can about that project, and then to find creative ways to share that knowledge with others! I.e.- Find something that interests you. Learn about it, and develop a talent for it. Teach others what you have learned or are learning. Find ways to apply your knowledge to help others. Keep learning more!

The 4 "h's" stand for : head, heart, hands, and health. The 4-H pledge is this:
"I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service, and my health to better living for my club, my community, my country, and my world."

The 4-H motto is : "Making the best better!"

This is what 4-H is all about. It's about making the best better, and sharing with others everything you can to create a better club, a better community, a better country, and a better world!

"...................................
For my club, my community, my country, and my world."
