WHAT IS DIANETICS - AND WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH MENTAL HEALTH?

Have you ever seen a movie, ate at a restaurant, rode in a car, or heard a song that you really enjoyed, found interesting, or loved, and just wanted to share it with others? Have you ever read a good book and passed it on to someone else because you wanted them to have that knowledge or experience? I'm sure you have - many times over with family, friends, and associates.

That's the focus of this lens. It's about sharing, talking about, and introducing people to, a great book called DIANETICS. I think Dianetics is the most important and valuable book ever written on the human mind.

I found it not only interesting but very credible because the concepts and information made sense to me and I could apply them in my life. Many ideas I had were validated, many incidents explained. I learned a lot about the mind and want others to have this information.

HEY, WE ALL HAVE A MIND - SHOULDN'T WE KNOW HOW IT WORKS? For this reason alone I think everyone should read it.

The word Dianetics comes from the Greek dia, meaning "through" and nous, meaning "soul", and is defined as "what the soul is doing to the body."

DIANETICS AND THE REACTIVE MIND

Have you ever felt that something was holding you back in life, stopping you from being the person you want to be - but couldn't quite figure out what that was?

Well you were right. Something is and it is called the Reactive Mind - the hidden part of your mind that stores all painful experiences and then uses them against you.

Dianetics gets rid of the reactive mind. It's the only thing that does.

Who Wrote Dianetics?

WHERE DID THESE IDEAS COME FROM?

Dianetics was written by L. Ron Hubbard. He studied the human mind for decades, did comprehensive scientific research, and detailed his findings in the book Dianetics.

Dianetics was published on May 9th, 1950 and became a New York Times bestseller. 18 million copies have been sold since then. Dianetics is the only book to appear on the New York Times bestseller list nearly fifty years after its first publication and appearance.

Walter Winchell, noted columnist of the New York Daily Mirror described Dianetics "as revolutionary for humanity as the first caveman's discovery and utilization of fire."

DIANETICS VERSUS PSYCHIATRY

HOW DO THEY DIFFER?

DIANETICS IS A SCIENCE - a SCIENCE OF THE MIND - which means it is based on study, observation, research and EVIDENCE !

L. Ron Hubbard gave us a completely new way of looking at the mind. In fact he discovered HOW the mind works. With this knowledge he was then able to create solutions for dealing with and handling the mind, for solving mental and emotional problems - real solutions that work. Psychiatry has never given us that. Psychiatry has never provided certainty. Psychiatry uses drugs, and/or hypnosis. Dianetics never uses drugs or hypnosis.

I am glad that you found my lens interesting. Please do yourself a favour and read the book. The information in it is amazing. Every time I read Dianetics I wish that everyone else could read it too. It is that powerful.

Yes, Elizabeth, NJ is where Mr. Hubbard is from! Cool that it is also your Dad's home town.. Have you been there?

Hi Sharon, Interesting lens, thanks for sharing. I've heard many great things about this book, haven't read it yet. I'll have to check it out. Hubbard is actually from my father's home city, Elizabeth, NJ.
