That All Important First Step

A quote from Lao Tzu, a Chinese philosopher, goes like this: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"

Repeat that and ask yourself why that is important in your journey. Because you will be terribly disappointed if you believe that you will be able to lose 20 pounds in the next week only by exercising and eating less.

However rapid weight loss techniques can be benificial in certain circumstances, thinking that you can lose a bunch of weight in a short time and keep it off is not reasonable.

Therefore the best way to succeed is to apply the philosophy of one pound at a time. This is what I personally do and keeps the stress away. The stress that occurs when you put in the recommended efforts but you notice that they do not lead to the weight loss goal you had in mind. Following the one pound at a time guideline will help you to have a much easier time adjusting to your new diet plan.

The Famous Low Calorie Diet Plan - A Bad Idea (Part 1)

According to most people, calories are the enemy because eating too many calories leads to too much fat, right? Which is the reason many people think that drastic calorie counting is the best way to lose weight.

Does making the decision to go from 2,500 calories to 1,500 calories a day mean that the extra 1,000 calories has to be done through weight loss? Not really.

The truth is, if you will only try to cut your calories consumption too much (such as missing meals and generally trying to starve your body) you will soon realize you have hit a plateau (this is when the scale goes no lower no matter how much food you've given up).

I would like to start by showing you how the average person begins a new diet. You may well recognize this...

A possible scenario most of the time sounds something like this.

It creeps up on you and you realize your clothes are no longer fitting the way they used to and you look bigger than before. So today you become frustrated with yourself, mad at your reflection in the mirror, so you determine to reduce your weight regardless of the lengths you have to go. Today, you are pretty angry and motivated, and you're determined to get thinner at any cost.

What do you start off doing?

You are sure that calories are the bad guys, so you start to skip meals and drastically reduce calories.

Anyway, the situation above explains how most people start their starvation diet.

The Famous Low Calorie Diet Plan - Day 1 (Part 2)

On that first day you are so excited about the idea of losing weight you might think about not eating breakfast.

This feeling will not last for long because the hunger pangs will begin and you will start feeling weak because your body is not used to missing those skipped calories.

When lunch hour comes you're so ravenous and weak that you feel wretched yet you courageously say to yourself that you will manage to stay on this diet, since the last thing you want is to seem like a quitter. So maybe you eat a slice of fruit or a different small food item for lunch instead, because you are still under the impression that starving will help you to lose weight.

By the time that it's time to eat dinner, you have a massive headache. You realize that maybe starving yourself to shed pounds isn't such a wonderful idea. Although you feel terrible after just one day of starving yourself, you are determined to stick it out so you don't become a quitter.

Another option if you are brave, is to wait a couple of weeks. But no matter how long you hold out, in the end you won't lose any weight and the end results will be the same.

The Famous Low Calorie Diet Plan (Part 3)

Why the starvation diet doesn't work

You will not achieve any serious weight loss at all when you are starving yourself for two weeks. When you look at yourself, you will have the same appearance.

So why should this be?

This is because a lot of the effects of a starvation diet are only losing water weight, as opposed to real fat loss. If you go on a starvation diet, you will gain back any water weight lost when you start eating a normal amount of food again. In addition, you cause a hidden factor to come into play when you try to starve your body.

Your body will respond to starvation by reducing the number of calories you burn each day. Suppose you usually consume around 3,000 calories on a daily basis. You are now eating only 1,000 calories per day when you suddenly cut way back on calories.

Can you guess what will occur next?

Although you're consuming 2,000 less calories daily, your body will start burning off an equivalent lesser amount of calories daily so actually you won't lose any weight even with your calorie reduction.

At this point, you reach a weight loss plateau, and weight simply will not decrease any further no matter how little you eat. As a result, starvation diets usually prove ineffective after the first fourteen days. Despite how little they are consuming each day, they all reach a plateau where the scale doesn't budge.

It is not possible to lose weight by starving yourself. Now you know why you have always failed when trying to starve yourself in the past. Losing a substantial amount of weight can only be accomplished by providing your body with the correct types of calories at specific moments in the day.

When your low calorie diet plan becomes a starvation diet then it is doomed to fail.

3 Quick Weight Loss Tips That Actually Work

Note: rapid weight loss ideas must never be your main fat burning plan

To succeed in your weight loss adventure you should exercise more and eat fewer calories. Unfortunately, most people know what needs to be done, but they don't stick with it. As a result, they will be searching for quick weight loss tips. These fat loss plans produce quick temporary weight losses, but the weight is likely to return.

If you read this and have to admit that you are searching for the next quick diet fad, you should think again. These quickie diets will help you lose weight, but most of it will be water and the rest will be muscle mass. It requires a serious commitment to lose too much bodyfat. The fact of the matter is, you need to change your whole lifestyle.

There are several weight loss programs that sound interesting enough to try. Indeed, if you're only a few pounds from your ideal weight and a special occasion approaches, a little extra effort is all you need. Drinking water will help and is the cornerstone of every weight loss plan whether short or long term. Water not only cleanses your body but it helps flush away fat. You will eat less because it fills up the stomach. As a result, you should drink at least one glass of water before you eat. Also get a glass of water before you decide to eat a salty or calorie-filled snack.

Now read carefully because this is a way to easily lose pounds weekly. Drink water instead of sugary drinks. This move is very important for rapid weight loss. If you are able to stick to this plan for the long term you can lose over 15 pounds in a year. But you will have to keep a close eye on what you eat. Lower your fatty food and bad carbohydrates and fill this in with fruit and vegetables whenever you can. Know that rapid weight loss should only be short term and not the basis for losing extra pounds over time.

If you have reached a plateau the consumption of negative calorie foods can be a solution. The concept is easy to understand. The criteria for a food to be labeled as having negative calories is if the body spends more energy in consuming and digesting the food than is spent in absorbing it. Apples, carrots, broccoli, and cucumbers are among the many foods that can help you lose weight quickly.
