For starters we can recycle them. No need to throw them out. Now you can stop worrying about what to do with your old or broken plates and allow me to introduce to you a bunch of creative ideas that are sure to be fun and that you can give as a gift too. Important!
Hang your old plates as art! Wall tiles perhaps?
Which should you recycle into art? A square old plate or a round old plate? Well the shape of old plates don't matter because once an old plate is broken that's it. They're old! File the edges of those old plates and glue the backs of them onto your kitchen wall for a cool tile look or for smaller pieces glue them onto borders of picture frames and mirrors. The broken plate itself can be turned into a hanging wall art by attaching a string with glue.

Important!
Send them home with friends
I love this recycle idea for old plates! So very sneaky. You know how friends never seem to have the time to return anything borrowed? The trick here is to send any food giveaways in these old plates! This way you'll be recycling and your old plate will end up stock in their cupboard not yours. Before you know it, they would have accumulated two or three of your old plates!
Make room for some new plates.
Important!
Use your old plates for picnic and camping
Protect your new plates by substituting them for old plates when you go picnic or camp. If these old plates get broken..so what? At least you would be saving some money right? Recycle your old plates and save! It's hardly likely you will grieve over your old plate in comparison to your new plates.

Your old plates may not get much love by you but you can give your old plates a new lover by donating them in a thrift store. So go ahead and recycle your old plates, donate it!
Could you get your old plate sold?
Give the money to charity or just donate the plate to a recycle center
Important!
Recycle your old plates into a mosaic
Maybe you're one of those people who not only enjoy recycling but making mosaics too? Well why not recycle your broken old and any new chipped plates into fun mosaics? Decorate the entire surface of a coffee table or picture frame with your old plate pieces. Your friends will sure love what you have done with your old plates. Recycle your old plates and inspire others.
Important!
Recycle your old plates into coasters
Know someone into glass cutting? Get your old plate cut and turned into a glass coaster. If it is a new plate that is chipped, cut it, file it and give away as a gift to a friend. This is a fun way to recycle old and new broken plates.

Create a magnet with your old plates
Recycle any chipped old plate or new plate into a refrigerator magnet! File the edges smooth with sandpaper and glue a magnet backing heavy enough to hold it when you stick it on the fridge. Use your chipped plate magnet to hold paper and notes on the fridge. New or old chipped plates are fun to make as magnets and to give as gifts.

Recycle your old plates into paper weights!
Broken or old plates can be cut and re-painted if the color on the plate has faded. Cut your plate into a neat square or whatever shape you desire or if its a large chip, file the edges and use your plate as a paper weight. Can even glue artificial flowers on top to make it more attracted or around the edges. Perfect if you don't like painting!

Important!
Use your old plates as a as center piece!
Your old or chipped new plates can be used as a center piece decoration for tables or in your kitchen. Fill deep or flat plates with flowers and make sure the flowers cover the edges of the plates to hide any chips or cracks. This is a cool unique idea to recycle your broken or old plates don't you think?
Here's some ideas for center pieces..
Important!
Transform your old or new broken plates into jewelry
Cut your recycle plate into a desired shape like a square and file edges. Use a metalic marker to color the filed edges. Add a drop of heavy duty glue to the back and attach an earring backing. Do this with another identical cut plate and you will soon have a pair of stopper earrings for your ear! How cool is that?
Cool handmade earrings!
Important!
Use them to catch dripping water
Old plates can be placed under small ware drainers to catch the water and then drain off. Handy for drainers that sit on counter tops. They can even be used in place of ware drainers to hold cups until they dry or even kept as a base in/on your cupboard for resting your cups.
Need a dish drainer?
Important!
Turn those old or broken plates into a mosaic vase!
Yep. I'm backing you with another mosaic recycle old plates idea. Turn those old plates or broken plates into a mosaic vase! Simply take a colorful small vase and randomly place pieces of your old plates or broken plates (dispersely scattered) onto your vase.

- I use old plates (and sometimes new ones) to cut and use on mosaic furniture. I love hunting down and collecting the plates too. It's part of the fun, trying to find beautiful vintage designs at a bargain price so I won't feel bad for cutting them. Loved the lens, thank you!

Recycle Book Plates
Plus you can enjoy some wonderful selection of book plate stickers I have collected for you so do have fun. You'll discover round bookplates stickers and rectangular book plate labels, all of which come in colors of green or has a recycle green theme. And they can be personalized or you can use a bookplate template to make your own bookplate from scratch.
For every other book sticker (not green and recycle book stickers) check out my online collection by visiting the link where you can find ROUND book stickers.
Create a bookplate from scratch using a bookplate template!
If you would like to create a rectangle bookplate using your own image click here or for a round bookplate sticker you can make your own here.
What is a bookplate?
Ever wonder where book plate stickers first originated from? Who invented them? Here is a little history on these personalized name gifts.. its purpose and more.
The purpose of bookplates were to claim ownership in that if a book got lost, misplaced, borrowed, and even stolen it is hoped that they would be returned to the respected owner with the aid of the bookplate which contained helpful information such as the book owners name and address.
There is an entire society that can be found online who contains a wealth of information on all you ever wanted to know about bookplates, who used them and who designed these book plate stickers. The only things is that none of these people reused bookplates - well at least to the best of my knowledge.
How to reuse stickers and bookplates?
The following simple easy steps have been adapted from how to use reuse stickers. Book plates are a sticker! And sometimes you may want to reuse it!
First before you can reuse your stickers again, you simply need to apply Vaseline or some cheap cream to the back of the sticker or bookplate sparingly and evenly. Now you can stick your stickers and bookplates any where you want to and when the time comes for you to reuse those book plates stickers you will be able to do that in a jiffy!
And the sticker lasts even with the Vaseline or cream at the back of it. Guaranteed! Will stick as usual. Upon removing the sticker won't leave any greasy traces behind either so feel free to reuse old stickers bookplates.
