Confessions of A Deal Dork
For years, I've been a self-described bargain hunter. I've always been good at getting great deals at stores, using coupons and sales to get the maximum amount of savings and getting quality freebies.
Here I share what I know about saving money with freebies, surveys, product testing and more.
Easily Earn Pocket Money
Cash Crate
Cash crate is one of my better earners. Start by getting 35 cents here and there for surveys. Then share your link with others (Cash Crate provides the link for you). You'll not only get credit for your surveys, but credit for the surveys your friends complete, too. A get rich plan? Hardly. $30 a month for essentially doing nothing? YES!.

Freebie Advice
Ordering Freebies? Open a New Email Account

Never EVER use your primary email account when ordering free stuff. Open a free email account. It only takes a few minutes.
Free email accounts (such as Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail) are the way to go. Create an easy-to-remember name and an equally-easy-to-remember password. Don't put a whole lot of thought into either. It's just a junk account.
Chances are, you'll never have to check your junk account. But if you do (some freebie offers will ask you to respond to an email you before they'll send the freebie regular mail) -- you'll have a separate account for it.
If you happen to search for freebies on your own and mistakenly sign up for something that results in 50 new SPAM emails a day, it won't matter. You're not weeding through them as you would with your primary email account. Just go in every once in awhile, select all, and delete everything.
Email Services For Freebie Ordering
Keep SPAM out of your main email account!
- Yahoo Mail
- Use your single ID for everything from checking Mail to checking out Yahoo! Music, Photos, Messenger, and more.
- Hotmail and Windows Live Mail
- The new Hotmail brings you more. More space (5 GB), more security, still free. Sign up for our award-winning service.
- Gmail
- Quickly becoming my favorite email client. Keeps unwanted messages out of your inbox with Google's innovative technology. Lots of space. Over 6,403 megabytes (and counting) of free storage so you'll never need to delete another message. Best of all (if you so chooose), you can get your Gmail email right in Outlook Express. Easy set up.
More Freebie Advice
A few tips when searching for freebies on your own:
A good rule of thumb? Avoid ANY sites that have the word "free" in their URL - sites that only exist to give that free item away (for example, free_keychains.com). They're not promoting a brand name, and they're not giving away items out of kindness. So what else IS there?Junk email and postal mail.
You won't get a keychain (or any other "gift" or "freebie"), but what you WILL get is a lot of mail (postal and electronic) you didn't sign up for.

Great freebies site you have there! I've given you 5 stars for your lens. Wonderful stuff! :) I've just set up a site on Squidoo lens as well as a website providing freebies as well. Perhaps you can offer me some comments about them! Looking forward to see you there! :) Posted May 14, 2008 |
