Cutting The Clutter

Clearing out your Bathroom

If you do an overview of your house, you'll probably agree that the bathroom is the major cultter area. The list of things stored in the bathroom could be endless. Here are some tips and new multiple uses for multiple things.

Towels
* Buy fewer towels and wash them more often.
* Lay frayed towels in bottem of the BR drawers that you would otherwise throw away so when spills and leaks from cosmetics happen you can just pull out the towel and discard without the extra chore of wiping down the inside of the drawer.
*Use ice trays in the drawers to store and sort small things such as earrings, cotton balls lip balm, hair accessories, safty pins etc.
*Use wire baskets with openings at least 2inches wide to prevent the temptation of storing any small items that would pile up. Use them for wash cloths, shampoo, conditioner, gel, and one for cleaning supply bottles.

Family or Game room:

* Toss broken toys, pick a day every other week or at least once a month to go thru your child(ren) toy box to discard broken toys

* Give or sell toys that your child(ren) no longer show interest in.

* Make an agreement with older children (ages7+) that every time they buy and or recieve a new toy they must rid themselves of something the same number of items they are bringing into the home. Believe me .... they really don't have a problem with this....most of the time its us as parents that have a hard time parting with THEIR choice. I know i do from time to time. But again, its their choice that's the deal. ok bear with me it gets easier ...wipe the sweat from your brow.

* Ask for cash/giftcard for your child(ren) special occasion!! Include the request on the invitation letter (add sugar now!) wording is everthing.

* Get your little one to part with old teddy bears by making "Hidden Treasure Bears" that they can give to friends and family .... everyone is happy in the end. With all the supplies that you will use you will cut clutter in more areas than one!! and have fun doing it. Don't forget to take a picture and give plenty of praise. ( scroll to learn how to make Treasure Bears)

* Limit the amount of Baskets, Shelving, end tables that is in this space ... I know this worked for me

Kitchen:

* Use the same wire baskets (can be found at any dollar store) in the spice cabinet to organize your cabinets. Most cabinets can hold a total of 6 to 9 small baskets depending on the width of the cabinet.

* Coffee filters are great for cleaning stainless steel and mirrors.

* Use tooth paste and an old toothbrush to brush aways rust stain. Presto its gone!

Family room:

* Don't cry over spilled it wine ever again. Salt ... yes salt is here to save the day!! Pour salt directly on the spot and wait for about 10 to 15 minutes before vaccuming. Works on carpet, cotten and linen tabelcloths too.

This is just a little of whats to come in What AN IDEA!! I hope you enjoyed reading this and ADD me to your Favorites.

How -to Make "Treasure Bear"

Treasure/Keepsake Bear Gift

Supplies needed:
New/Used stuffed animal of your choice
Scissors
Velcro or Zipper
Sock
Fabric Glue and paint (paint optional)
Hot glue gun
Needle
Thread
Can of Scotch Gaurd

Embelishment: Buttons, Lace, old baby or doll clothing, scrap fabric , patches , etc.

How to:

Cut along the back of the teddy bear from the rear to almost the neck of the bear.
- take out most of the stuffing in the belly area (use your judgement)

- use put your keepsake/treasure in the sock
( pictures, money, charms, jewelry, whatever you want)

- glue or sew velcro or zipper to the opening of the bear to re-seal. Sewing works best but Hot glue work well too.

Now its time to make Your bear Your Own Creation!!

- using the glue; place your embelishment where you want them .. for example place a large button over one of the eyes.

- cut a piece of fabric and place on the ears as a lining; sew patches on him; dress him up; paint of him if you like... be creative!! Decorate your bear any way you wish the possibilities are endless.

Once you're done spray your bear with Scotch Guard to protect the fabrics on the bear.

Have fun!!
