What happened to the little chocolate shop?
After 2 years of being in business, we have met some really fantastic people. We are sad to have closed, but wonderfully touched by all the neat personalities we got to meet. Hopefully, this lens is to keep in touch. The world can be so cold & ugly, but let's keep it beautiful with all the great people who make this world neat.
Life after the chocolate shop
1st what happened?
Pretty simple, we asked the landlord to negotiate with the rent. We guess he didn't want to.
Okay, so for those of you who have e-mailed and called in the past 27 days 10 hrs. and 23 min. (this is approximately how long since the landlord gave us the boot 3/05/10), you all have express some very heart felt concerns about how are we? and how can you help?.......... I want to say from the bottom of all our hearts THANK YOU! Honestly, how you can help: spread the word about this blog page. Tell everyone you know, and have them tell everyone. We will be constantly updating, and reporting all our crazy antics. How will this help us? Well, here's the thing, I'm not sure yet. I'm pretty new to this whole internet, the surprises and layers are crazier than any truffle we ever came up with. But if you guys know us, you know we would never do anything unethical. So, stay tuned and get ready for some laughs (hopefully) ..............

No Matter How Innocuous Something May Seem............
THERE ARE ALWAYS CONSEQUENCES!
No matter how innocent something may seem, there are always other people out there ready to use people any way they can. I recently had my e-mail hijacked by some unscrupulous person or persons. I can only hope that Karma finds you and repays you many times over. Well this was a post I started out with a couple of months ago. I have been a little busy doing the 5 days a week, full time gig. I fixed my rush hour traffic problem, but alas, there always seems to be some kind of traffic issue.(no matter what time you go to work) I can't say what I am doing, it is totally classified. - So mysterious! Don't you love it?
On a brighter note, this is what we have been up to..... we recently participate in the attendance of the new aquarium in Tempe. 1st, let me preference this with the fact that this Aquarium is located at the Arizona Mills Mall. Yup, that's right, you heard me, in a mall. The thing itself was smaller than the size of the sports authority located next door. (red light going off somewhere) I should have known this could not be like anything the website showed. Major disappointment. I wish I could tell people to go, but I can't. It's just not worth the ticket price, even with a discount. Yes, I know, I said on a brighter note. What I will tell you that saved the whole entire day was: THE SIAMESE CAT. What is this, only one of the few best darn THAI restaurants in the whole valley. They have been there for 27 years, it's a little hole in the wall place. The lady who owns it, (Man, do I love her cooking) has know us since before we were married. It's like stepping into a time capsule. (And, NO she isn't family) If you get the chance to go, you have got to try: Pau pia (spring rolls), Spicey fried wontons, Mu Satay pork, Tom Ka Gai (soup) and #22 Pad Voon Sen w/ chicken (it's a noodle dish). Of course, this is way too much food, but great left overs. The Spicey Fried Wontons are my favorite! - they have the best flavor, take a bite, and it fills your whole senses with curry and delicious ground chicken. The Tom Ka Gai soup is like no other. It has a nice bright citrus flavor, and no chalky after taste. For more info on menu and directions, please visit: thesiamescat.com. Best Thai Restaurant Siamese Cat : Northwest corner of Price and Baseline 5034 South Price Road (Tempe Plaza) Tempe, Arizona 85282 480-820-0406 Menu look up: thesiamesecat.com Why am I telling you this, I want her to stick around. Yes, I am selfish! I can cook, but I can't cook like her. And THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING! This economy is killing all the great little places, like this. So if you are ever in Tempe, stop it. You'll love it! I know you will. Next time I will have to tell you about our surreal trip to a place with a pink cadillac (it's really a cadamino) and 4 fantastic cheesburgers. Until then, Carpe Diem!

So How Does This Work?
Why blog on squidoo.
Well this all start out as an accident. For those of you that have been following us from day one, you will know that and thank you for keep up with us. So here is our answer to why this helps us when you guys come and visit. We all know how bad the economy is, right? Let's just first say, you don't ever have to do anything. You guys coming & visiting with us, e-mailing, and just keeping in touch is great. That's the whole point. We miss all of you guys. This blog page is FREE! It cost nothing, but our time. Why did we pick Squidoo? They are a great bunch of people. From the research I did(you can too if you want), I found out everything is paid through advertisers. I know, that's kind of like a four letter word, but not really. Squidoo does not allow "click fraud". What's that?, it can get pretty complicated, so for those of you who know better than me. Please, speak up at anytime and correct me if I write anything incorrect. The gist: some blog pages & websites are set up so people will just click away, and the person who owns it will receive some amount of money. This also happens here, but not in a misleading way. Only click if you want to. Some blog pages are set up so you think you are doing one thing, and then get trapped somewhere else. The difference with Squidoo, they donate 5% right off the top to a list of charities on their site. Also, if you know of a worthy charity (and no it can't be a person, I already thought of that - nice try) you can submit to them for acceptance. 45% get's put into the running of squidoo, thus there is no fee to have a page. The rest 50% is pooled to the best lens. So, this is why if you visit and spread the word, it helps us. Plus, if Squidoo finds you to be doing anything unethical - they will lock your lens. YIKES! No bad lens allowed. Although, we are not a charity, Squidoo knows our time is valuable, so: For those of you who would like to join and become a member. Here is a link to join http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/referral/cschocolatier if you join through this link, you also help us. I think it is for everyone who joins and earns their 1st 15 bucks, we will get 5. (not bad) This is something you can do too and make some money for you, for charity or both. Or, if you see some product on my blog page that you would like to buy, ie: Amazon: Dean Koontz books (he is my ultimate favorite author) I will receive some compensation for that. I am not sure how much. So, do not click if you don't want it. Also, if you are interested in any of the other advertisers on my blog page. Once again, I am not sure how much compensation I receive, but you would help me & also a charity they have listed. As far as the work from home links or scams, I do not support those. I have seen some advertise on my blog, I don't think I choose those. Or the ads for the other chocolates, such as: m&m or the like. I know you guys know: THAT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT OUR SUGGESTIONS. I am still getting a hang of this. On that note, if you guys are interested in a vacation and want to know how much the flight is, why not take a look at the bottom with Orbitz. I am not going to get rich quick, but hey everyone could use some extra money. The best part of this is: we get to share our lives together. I know everyone is busy. That way you can check in on us anytime you want, or you can post any comments (keep it clean we are a G rating). If you guys need any help, I will try to answer any questions. Otherwise, be daring, become a lens master yourself. Until next time ... keep smiling and watch out for me on the road.
Lost...
Have you ever dreamed of doing something for so long, you don't know what to do when it's gone. It's kind of like learning how to breath or walk again. You knew you use to do it, but now you just can't. I use to wonder what people did after they lost their business. Well, now I know. First, your not even sure if it really is happening. Of course, there is the humbling feeling of failure with a side of unemployment. Let's face it, even the most upbeat and optimistic person is going to take a hit. But, once the reality sets in....you realize, oh crap! what do I do now? hmm .... let's try to work from home. Everyone has heard about it. Sure, it's easy, make thousands of dollars and never even get out of your jammies and fuzzy slippers. (oh by the way, keep a dictionary handy. After you loose your business, you apparently loose your sense of spelling. Pajamas ... took me a ridiculous amount of time to find the spelling, only of course after the... "hey honey, how do you spell pajamas?") Well, let's just say, if I am having a hard time spelling pajamas, I'm not going to become the next internet guru. But let's leave that for another topic, shall we? No matter what, everything happens for a reason. After my disappointing search on the internet, it lead me here. I found this intriguing new community. You get to keep in touch and meet new people while in jammies and fuzzy slippers. How wonderful! As for the employment, still the same status, but my productivity in socializing has increased 20 fold. While lost, I found the importance of staying in touch. For all the customers who e-mailed and called (you know who you are) THANK YOU! You made my world a little brighter. As for what's next? .... got any ideas?
HAZZAH!
Welcome to The 22nd Annual Renaissance Festival.
There is something spectacularly infectious about being around people who are happy and costumed. Our adventure for this past weekend brought us in search of a position at the Renaissance Festival. Since being unemployed, I welcome all and any opportunity to change this situation. It had been suggested, try the Renaissance Festival. Once again, a little late. At least, I found the atmosphere to be wonderful and very entertaining. They had craftsmen from all walks of life. From the weavers, glass blowers to the mighty black smith, I found every craftsmen to be passionate and well knowledge in their trade. The black smith found the perfect balance of heat & might, bending metal to his will. He created items of such delicacy to rugged and sturdy tools.
If shopping is your mood, you can find the most unique trinket. From beautifully hand crafted metal roses to oddly pleasing fox tails. There is something for everyone. Each shop keep remains in character. Patrons are greeted with flare and wonderful mirth. After admiring all the interesting and unique products, you can amuse yourself with several shows and activities. Every event is carried out with the same wonderful enthusiasm consistent through out the festival.
Hungry? There are several place to buy food. My favorite, and most traditional ( in keeping with the spirit) are their huge turkey legs. Delicious, mouth watering and satisfyingly barbaric. And all for only 4 bucks! If you wish to dine more fanciful, there is always the fest at the kings table. If your a noble men or women and can afford this trifle, it is said to be quite the adventure. I am but a squire, so I will have to wait for that experience.
Overall, I have to say this was a very entertaining and interesting adventure. As for employment, I tried to show the black smith my great skills in shoeing a white rhino. Let just say, Snappy has a few singed toes. The emergency room attendant threatened to call the ASPCA on me. Thankfully, Snappy was able to dismiss the other minor burns to his horn & tail. (It wasn't my fault, the glass blowing incident didn't go anywhere near the way I expected.) Due to a few misunderstands and me being all thumbs, Snappy has decide to apply to become a Cadbury Easter bunny. He actually believes it will be safer for him ... hmm
If you would like more info on The 22nd Annual Renaissance Festival, please visit them @ : http://www.royalfaires.com/arizona/
Plan for next years adventure! If you are in need of feeling like a Lord, there is a very nice gentleman at the Blockbusters on Grand. We swear he must work at the Renaissance Festival. He has never failed to make us feel so royal when performing such a mundane task.
So the adventure continues.........
Happy Belated Easter!
Hopefully, you all had a wonderful Easter. As for Snappy, his search continues. Evidently, his obsession with the perfect chocolate egg, caused a back up the likes that most haven't seen since the great bunny of 1912. Baskets loaded with chocolate eggs, Snappy has locked himself in the closet and refuses to come out. Since losing his post at Chocolate Surprise, he is at a lost to find the right fit. It didn't help when the little girl in the pink dress pulled off his bunny ears. Screaming "YOUR NOT THE EASTER BUNNY, YOUR A RHINO, WHAT A RIP OFF!" He's been so traumatized, he runs away from any little girls in pink dresses. I believe he deserves as little vacation. What do you guys think?
On a different note, this unemployed chocolatier is no longer fully unemployed. It's very interesting what my new post is. I feel like a secret agent. I even have an alias. I can't tell you .... if I did I would have to kill you. (just kidding) you know how that goes, just like 007.

Love this author!
Why do I love this author? He has a great imagination, unlike Stephen Kings, his endings are usually happy. The girl always gets the guy and the dog always wins. Currently re-reading Odd Thomas, the first volume.
huh?
Hello, how are you? what adventure are you on....
Have any comments or suggestion on what or where the chocolatiers may wind up next. Please let us know. Your guess is as good as our.

- Stan and Lee, You guys are the best, I just went by today to get Mothers Day chocolates and I was so sad to see what happened! I actually yelled "WHAT?!?!" the people walking by I am pretty sure thought I was crazy... You will be missed very much here in Surprise and I hope that you open up a new store and where ever or whatever you end up doing with your chocolates my husband and I will be loyal followers! I don't know what the landlord is thinking, in this market he should have just been happy to have tenants, and ones that had a booming business at that!

- You guys are fantastic. I am going to miss you and please stay in touch. Did you think about calling one of the large resorts here and see if they can let you make their chocolates there on a limited basis and sell them in their "gift shop" or do promotions for them using the chocolates. Maybe you can embellish this a little more, you guys are creative. I would hate to see your talents lay dormate in pajamas and fuzzy slippers. Call to discuss if you like, 623.262.7273 is my cell.

- I had finally decided to "go for the gold". It was my birthday and I deserved some good chocolate. Talk about "shock and awe". i couldn't believe the sign on the door but I'm somewhat familiar with it - it's how I lost my last job. Maybe somehow in the future I'll get to those chocolates. Thanks for being so nice when I made inquiries.

My 5 year old son loved the dark chocolate frogs. Please keep us up to date on whatever you guys decide to do. Take care.

Where is the best place to find great chocolates?
Summer is right around the corner, plan your vacation now. Maybe the perfect getaway is a cozy little in with the best little chocolate shop down the street. Try Vancouver, they've got some great chocolate shops.
