If your asking yourself what is a webkin, Then you have come to the right place... They are the hottest toy arround right now - Think beanie baby, Tickle-Me-Elmo and Tamagotchi.

What is a webkin?

Webkinz toys are plush pets made by the company Ganz and targets the 8-12 age range, There are also smaller versions called Lil' Kinz meant for 5-8 year olds.

Webkinz come with a secret access code that lets kids enter the Webkin world online. Here they can play with a virtual version of their pets and "adopt" their pet and play in their own online bedroom. Users can design their own room and furnish it with furniture and clothes for their pets.

Users can also play games in the arcade, compete against other players in tournaments, interact with friends online and answer quizzes in Quizzy's Question Corner.

All of these features earn users KinzCash, which can be used in the W Shop, a place to buy toys, furniture and clothes for their pets.

Webkin owners can chat with each other safely using hundreds of pre-contructed phrases. And older children with parents permission can access another area where they can type to chat but messages are limited to words from the restricted dictionary, which excludes all numbers, proper names, place names, and any sort of inappropriate language.
Webkinz.com says it is a secure and safe site for children.

Webkinz World helps to teach children about responsibility, caring for a pet, and getting along with others.
The program also teaches lessons about typing, communicating and safe social networking. In addition, it teaches business skills such as buying and budgeting, which can provide kids with a sense of consumer independence.

It also has a section for parents that talks about online safety. Children can socialize with other kids on the website but the interaction is very limited. Its all made to be very child safe.

Things to do when you visit Webkinz World

Visit your bedroom
Your pet relies on you to take care of it. You can see how its doing by the Happy, Health and Hunger meters. Playing, feeding and exercising your pet daily will help keep these meters high.

You can also spend some of your hard earned kinzcash on some furningshing or clothes for your pet.

Employment Office
You can choose a job once every 8 hours. Once you have done the same job three times you will gain a level and earn more money.

As long as your pet comes with a tag that says "Webkinz" on it, and is from Ganz, you know it's official and it will give you full access to the Webkinz World site.

When they made the very first Webkinz pets, they did not have Magic Ws on their paws. Then they started adding Magic W's.

This doesn't mean that every new Webkinz pet will have a Magic W, however. There are still some unreleased pets that were created right at the beginning, before They started adding Magic W's to the paws.
