Now what do I do?

So you have just created your very first lens! How exciting and congratulations! I am sure your first lens is about something wonderful and exciting to you. Perhaps your first Squidoo Lens is about an important subject matter to you. Regardless, whatever your lens is about I am sure it is wonderful and somewhere in the back of your mind you are wondering to do with it now.

When I first joined Squidoo February 2008, I remember how excited I was to create my first lens! Do you want to take a look at it? I wrote Faeries, Faeries Everywhere. I actually came across Squidoo from a site that was giving hints how to promote your business. I will admit, my whole purpose was to promote my Inspirational Faeries that I handmade. It also did not take me long to created my second Squidoo lens, than my forth, so on until I have now reached (116) I believe.

I was totally in the dark about what to do with my Squidoo lens in the beginning. I was also in the dark about how much Squidoo has to offer. I am still learning even today, and the one thing I can say without a doubt is Squidoo gives you the tools to take your goals where ever you want to go. Of course you cannot just sit there and do nothing, you have work with the tools. When you are doing anything online, you cannot expect to become a huge success over night. It takes a lot of time, patience, determination and w.o.r.k.!

Keywords and Tags are very Important!

As you are looking through all of the wonderful Squidoo Lensmasters lenses, you will find so much powerful, informative information that at first you may become a little overwhelmed. That's okay; I am sure will have been there. Take just a deep breath, work at your own speed and read each link at a time.

During the Summer I attended Squidoo's first Giant Squid Summer School. It was so much fun; I will talk about the Giants program a little later on. Anyway, during this eight week course, I spent a lot of time learning from one Squidoo's lensmasters and I learnt so much! Her name is Spirituality. You will find that each lensmasters page you visit who offers suggestions and tips will have a focus on certain things. Spirituality's pages taught me a lot about using Key Words.

Keywords are so IMPORTANT in getting your Squidoo Lens visitors from various search engines including Google, Yahoo, Bing and so on. The more visitors you receive the more recognition your page gets which could lead to more Amazon and eBay sales. Spirituality has an eBook she wrote which is fantastic and will teach you so much! This is the definition for Backlinks from Wiki: Backlinks are incoming links to a website or web page. In the search engine optimization (SEO) world, the number of backlinks is one indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page (though other measures, such as PageRank, are likely to be more important). Outside of SEO, the backlinks of a webpage may be of significant personal, cultural or semantic interest: they indicate who is paying attention to that page.
In basic link terminology, a backlink is any link received by a web node (web page, directory, website, or top level domain) from another web node. Backlinks are also known as incoming links, inbound links, inlinks, and inward links.

To be very honest, when it comes to Squidoo, I am learning something new every day. I am not able to give anyone this sound proof experience that is going to make your new squidoo lens fly off of the charts, but what I can do is explain how important I have found backlinks to be.

Squidoo offers buttons on each lens for Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Digg, Stumble, Delicious and a button to "Lensroll." What does "Lensrolls" means? It gives you the option to place a link onto other lens that are similar in nature to your's. Not only can you "Lensroll" your lenses over to your own, but when you visit other lensmasters lens and you have the option to add their lens to yours from their pages. Also your visitors that write Squidoo Lenses can do the same thing when they visit your page.

It is fairly easy to set up an account at Facebook, MySpace, Stumble, Delicious and Digg. So you know there are four places right off of the bat where you promote your new link. I am going to add a few plexo's where you can also sign up for other free accounts and place your links there.
Each place you put your Squidoo Lens is considered a backlink and that means more exposure for your work

When it comes to other places to put your links, you can also generate extra income.
