What To Do On The First Date | Get the Confidence You Need
If only I had known what to do on the first date, I may have possibly had a more successful first date than what actually transpired. I remember the chance to go out with a former captain of the cheerleading squad in her high school. Now that she was in college, she was that much more attractive!
I had gone over strategy with my friends as to what to do when I met her and where to go. After that, we never figured out what to do. I didn't know what I should say, or what I shouldn't. Whether I should touch her, or not. Is flirting allowed, and how much if so? Should I talk about me, or more-so about her? Do I lead what happens in the evening or do we mutually agree on something?
After the evening was over, I could tell there was something missing. We hugged and exchanged cell phone numbers, but she never called me back. I called her a week later, but all I got was a voice mail and then it turned into the automatic voice mail and not her personal voice. What did I do wrong? That first date totally killed the confidence I had in myself. I even messed up on my first date with the next girl!

Don't Always Take Their Advice
For example, my wise friends told me it would be "smooth" and "cool" when we are walking in to the Starbucks, for me to put my hand on the small of her back and lead her in. Little did I know the cheer leading captain was molested as a child and such action from a male reminded her of the trauma. She made that known to me right after she bolted from my touch and almost ran into the door.
Another example of what they told me to do on the first date was to watch the movie "Deliver Us From Eva" starring LL Cool J. Supposedly all the moves he made to get the leading actress was top notch moves. I borrowed the movie from one my friends only to find out it was the wrong DVD in the case, so I never got to jot down my notes.

Try An Action First Date To Light the Spark Of Love
If you're doing something physical, there is often a legitimate excuse for touching your date, say clutching each other in fright on the rollercoaster, or even pushing each other on the swings in the park. This kind of casual, 'safe', spontaneous contact helps create a feeling of closeness and intimacy. (Intimacy does NOT equal sex. Not quite yet)
As far as what to talk about; avoid at all costs trying to force your views on your date. Be passionate and enthusiastic by all means, but don't bang on about your pet topic all night long. What you need is a nice wide range of interesting things lined up to talk about, other than your own life story.
