Dogs love Wheatgrass

Wheatgrass for pets is not a weird as it may sound. Dogs and cats eat grass all the time. I know our dog Indy makes a bee line for tall grass when ever he goes for a walk or sometimes even in his own backyard.

Indy's Healthy Dog Food Receipt typically is something like this: 1 egg and (shell), raw meat, organic bokchoy, or spinach, flax oil (great for his coat) sometimes berries, and a couple of cups of fresh kitchen grown Wheatgrass. He loves his meals they are good to the last lick.

Please watch the video below to learn the steps for growing Wheatgrass in the kitchen and watch me make Indys breakfast and Indy enjoy his special dog food receipt.

Why Dogs Eat Grass

WHY DO DOGS EAT GRASS?
The truth is dogs eat grass for a variety of reasons. Studies suggest that dogs eat grass for reasons that are quite different from one another. Some experts suggest that dogs eat grass because they enjoy it. Some suggest they eat grass to calm an upset stomach and still others ascribe to the belief that eating grass fulfills a dietary need such as eating vegetables for humans.

Growing wheatgrass for your own consumption and for your pet is a very fulfilling experience. The ceremony of tending and watching a mini crop grow, of creating something from seeds and then sharing your bounty is special.
Our dog Indy hears the clinking of his bowl, watches intently as we prepare his meal of fresh, organic ingredients and begins to drool if we take too long. Knowing we are giving him a delicious meal containing the very best vitamins and nutrients possible, makes all of us happy.

Supplys Vitamins and Minerals

Grass eating is a natural canine behavior tracking back to their wolf and fox ancestors. In the wild, pack animals would eat every part of their plant eating prey including the contents of their stomachs, often containing grass. Over time, a taste was acquired and passed down through generations. By default, wild dogs ate grass and the craving continues.

Dogs nibble on tall lawn grass

It is also thought that dogs can sense a dietary imbalance lacking in certain vitamins and minerals. Dogs seek to satisfy the imbalance by grazing on wild grass during a walk, or on nibbling on your tall lawn areas. While in most cases this practice is totally harmless, occasionally your pet may ingest fresh pesticides, other animal waste or rotten foliage.

Home grown Wheatgrass

Home grown Wheatgrass is a vitamin rich, organically controlled source of nutrients for your pet. Void of pesticides and other potentially harmful elements, home grown wheatgrass can be a therapeutic treat for your pet that may just satisfy his need-desire for dietary balance.
