Online sources for buying hulahoops

Looking for one of those HUGE hula hoops to buy? You'll find here a number of hoopers selling all kinds of hoops: adult hoops, custom-designed hoops, kids hoops, fire hoops and LED hoops.

This site is meant to be a start in your search, rather than a comprehensive list.

Buying your first hoop?

Some basic advice

My suggestions for your first hoop:
* Go heavier and bigger to start.
* Make sure your hoop has at least one strip of gaffer tape on it (to increase the grip).
* Buy a quality adult hoop from a small manufacturer, such as those listed on this site.
* Get a good basic hoop for a teenager or adult has, imo, these starting point specs:
- 160 psi
- 3/4 inch tubing
- 42 inch diameter

(Any hoopmaker will understand these specs.)

Also:
* Insist on 160 psi materials or above. Do not get a 100 psi hoop as your first hoop.
* Avoid water-weighted hoops like the plague.
* Stay far away from the Heavy Hoops and anything with ripples and waves in the hoop.
* Get a minimum 3/4 inch tubing; 1 inch is ok, too. Nothing less for your first hoop, though.

Skip the store brands. Get a handmade hoop. (They're much better!)

From their site:
** Lightweight � inch tubing makes a hoop that weighs about 1 lb. or less depending on the diameter. (41" and larger would be more than 1 lb.)
** Heavyweight � inch tubing makes a hoop that's about 1 � lbs. or more depending on the hoop diameter. (38" diameter = about 1 lb 8 ounces, 42" diameter = about 1 lb. 11 ounces).

Diameter starts at 36" and can be made up to 44". I recommend about 42" hoop for beginners and those focusing on learning tricks. 36" - 40" hoops are good for more advanced hoopers and those who may want to hoop dance to songs with a faster beat.
