White-Line Roadwear dare to be different!
Our motorcycle has become a passion for us; day trips, short runs, local events and Sturgis. Running the Black Hills is, in our opinion, some of the best riding in the country. Where else can you see Presidents carved in stone, a tower named after the Devil, a little town called Huelet, WY where, on some days in August, underwear is optional (the infamous "No Panty Wednesday") oh, and a half a million motorcycles on the road.
I've been riding from the age of 10, my wife...ummm, Not. In fact it wasn't until we had been married a while before she ventured out on a ride with me. A quick trip on some back roads and our travelling days had just begun. A year or two after she took that first ride with me we set out for Sturgis - the "Mecca of Motorcycles." The journey was crazy, (Sturgis Chronicles) to say the least but not so much that she wouldn't make that ride two more times with me. Each time we logged over 5,000 miles in the saddle. Each trip we took a different route; we took our time to explore the western U.S. and had time, lots and lots of time for great coversations! White Lines Roadwear was born as a result of a some of those conversations we had between Chandler, AZ & Sturgis, SD and a number of rides inbetween. We wanted to create something just a bit different that the usual stock, although we have designed in some of our favorites along the way.
Yes... that's four days worth of travel clothes, snacks, a tool kit, camera, bike cover, locks and of course the essentials: You have to have "gummi bears" - no doubt they'll be fused together by the end of the second day (gummy heat stroke!), some peanuts, sunblock, night glasses, quarters for the laundry, and Lord knows what else strapped to the back of the bike! You can read more about Packing for the Road on my Next Lens.
Remember... It's not the destination.....
New to biking? Have the desire to feel the wind in your hair (or under your helmet)? Here's a great resource to check out for "Those about to Rock...- I mean, Ride!"Learn To Ride A Motorcycle Quickly get moving in the right direction. Whether you want to learn or are just curious to know more.Cover your bike. It's a must when you're on the road. I won't travel with out mine (ok I will... but I'll grumble alot!)- it beats wiping dew off of your seat, handlebars and chrome. Great protection from the elements.
Photo's from the road
The greatest thing about travelling by Motorcycle is the full body experience; the scenery is intesified by the smell of the earth as you blow across her riding on the wind.
Monument Valley - This is my favorite part of the southern leg of our trip. We try to time it so we're riding through it just about sunset. Mother nature at her finest! The pictures of Monument Valley are a bit fuzzy - they were taken with a cell phone at about 65mph)

The clouds in the background of the picture below are the "Monsoon" clouds building for the day. It is nearly a daily occurance in the desert southwest during July and August. There's no doubt that they will bring nasty winds (40 mph+ is normal), thunder and some of the most spectacular lightning you'll ever see. Along with all of that there's always the possibility of torential down-pours that can wash out roads and drop 2" or more of rain in a very short time.
Here's to hoping we're off the road by then.

Custom Designs
Some of Our First Ideas
The Best Alarm Clock...
For this design I chose a shadow letter or embossed look. I think it adds a chrome-like feel to the shirt. Sunshine on chrome in the early morning is just amazing. Thundering down the road, catching glimpses of the rainbows being shot from the chrome not only wakes you up but just makes you feel alive. Printed on a Long Sleeve Raglan. A modern, sophisticated take on a traditional baseball jersey. Pre-shrunk 5.0 ounce 100% combed ring-spun cotton, super-soft baby jersey knit. Contrast colored cuff, neck trim, and full-length sleeves. Classic, loose fit.(starting at $26.95)
The Bagger Mug
I love riding what's referred to as a Bagger -
(pictured at the top of this lens) - so I couldn't resist doing that flame thing as a background and throwing one of my images of in front. If you check out the Bagger Mug you'll be able to see a left, right and center (pictured) view of the mug and any other product you chose to view. Large handles make it easy to hold. 11 oz. or 15 oz. Dishwasher and microwave safe. Starting at $12.95
Ghost Chopper
I had fun with this one! I wanted it to look ragged, rugged and rode but it also needed... a ghostly appearance. A bit of work but I think it's close. Designed on to a skin-hugging ultra-soft fitted t-shirt. 100% ultra-soft baby rib cotton, combed for comfort. Double-needle stitched bottom hem. Made in the USA by American Apparel.(starting at $19.95)

Great lens. We don't have many Harley-Davidsons over here in England yet, but they are becoming more and more popular. Posted July 16, 2008 |
