My journey into the Art World
I have been doing some kind of art all of my life. My first memory is when my grandmother sat me at the table with paper and crayons, and I sat there for hours drawing things and coloring them in.
It was not until about 3 years ago my husband introduced me to Graphic Arts. I have to admit that I was one of those people that could not understand how doing art on the computer could be considered true art! I actually believed most of the pictures you see was cut and paste.
When my husband introduced me to several of his computer programs and explained a little about how they worked, it caught my interest. Today, it is one media that I use most besides making my Inspirational Faeries. Oh, and just for the record, neither my husband or I uses cut and paste in our designs. We have created everything in our pictures starting from scratch. I usually sell my pictures as originals only. I believe I only have a selective few that I sell as limited numbered prints.
This picture was designed from a memory that I have, from a weekend retreat honoring the "GreenWoman".
I have been adding a lot more art to my zazzle gallery, so take a look when you can. WhiteOak50* Zazzle Gallery
In 2007-I won my first award
I won my first award ever at a big Georgia Fair that has a huge art exhibition (over 2,000 artist). The first year 2006 when I entered one of my pictures, it was rejected. In 2007 I entered three pictures and two were choosen to be displayed in the show. The picture that is shown in this module was granted an award. I remember when I got the telephone call, I was in a state of shock and excitemtn because I thought the call was to inform me that one of my husband's picture sold. The first thing I was told is that one of my pictures had sold and the other picture was elected to win an merit award. I won my first ribbon! It was a couple of weeks later and I recieved my check!! I was floored.
First I never really "put" my artwork out into the world to be viewed, and I am not a person who wins anything easily. I was so honored for this whole experience for so many reasons. I can still feel the excitement in my heart from it! I wanted to be fair to my husband so I spent the award money on something that both of us could use!
My husband's work
My husband has been doing Graphic Arts for over 10 years. I wanted to display some of his work because he is so good at any media of art that he does. He too has been doing some kind of artwork since his early childhood. This picture was choosen to be in the 2006 Georgia Fair Art Exhibition.
More of my husbands work
Misty Morning

This was the last update from the picture stated in 2002. I believe today it is finished, but you can never be sure. It amazes me because my husband has built these pictures up like you would if you purchased land and built a house a few years later.
The turns my art takes...
Where it stops, nobody knows....

Well, if you have a faerie, you have to have a mermaid! I really enjoyed creating this picture but the mermaid's fin took me a long time to get it the way I seen it in my mind.

Another kind of picture I wanted to create was pictures that represent something special in my life. In this picture; it is giving honor to the chakra Goddess.

My cauldron is something I wanted to see if I could create because I wanted a unique design for my herb labels.
I really like this picture....

When it comes to art and your creations, there will be those choosen few that you really, really like...this is one of those pictures to me.
When it comes to working with dark tones in artwork, how can you give that picture life? This was just a personal challenge I gave to myself. I wanted a night-time picture but I wanted it to be embraced by something other then dark tones. I add the purple hue flowers and the blue to the water by experimenting with many different colors until it spoke to me. I did not want a lot of color, just a touch.
This picture is named Mystic Night because it has that mysterious feeling to it...well, at least to me.
So...now that I have shared some of my Artwork....
Let me tell you where it can be found.
I have to say right off, I am truly HOOKED on Squidoo. I believe the day I found squidoo was one of the luckiest things that I have found in the cyber world. It does not matter what I have on my, I can turn to squidoo and make a Lens! I learn something new on here all of the time, plus I have met some of the most fantastic people!Okay, with that being said, I met someone from my group Everything Spiritual who is also an artist and she sells her stuff on Zazzle.
Zazzle is a place like Cafe'Press, where you can create different things using your artwork on their products. You make money by the royality amount you set. WhiteOak50* at Zazzle My husband and I both, have our artwork there.

I had to order a couple of items because I wanted to see the quality of their work. So I ordered some stickers and two magnets! I LOVED the products that I ordered and was very pleased with Zazzle's work! The art was centered and crisp and they have fast delivery.
Aren't the days wonderful when you get little surprises!

Did you know or do you believe.....
Art is very healing. Art in all forms can help to heal emotionally. When we heal emotionally, we heal physically and spiritually. That is why I have always said that Journal Writing is one of the most theraputic things you can do for yourself when you are depressed or have something weighing heavy on your mind. Also, painting or drawing can compose some very beautiful work. I have made some strange creations in times of my "darker moods" but none the less, they had an unique beauty.
In your opinion...

Ah, I love your art -- what would really make this a spectacular lens is if you put your art into polaroid modules to appropriately showcase them. And, I might think about changing your title to reflect your name to identify with your art! 5***** Posted September 03, 2008 |
