What is your favorite Herbal Tea combination?

When it comes to drinking Herbal Tea Combinations, the only thing that stops you is your imagination!

Having a little knowledge about the different taste of the herbs comes from doing a lot of studying and hands on experience. In my product line I use to make many different tea combinations, herbal soaps, bath salts, salves and so on. The tea combinations came from a lot of studying, experimenting and taste testing. Every time my friends would come over, they knew to always expect a new tea. Now, honestly I have made some that really do not taste good but worked well for healing.

**Disclaimer** Please Note that everything I have listed comes from years of studying different books, taking courses and researching. Even with that information, I am in no way suggesting or prescribing any medicinal advice. Always ALWAYS check with your regular medical doctor before starting any herb program.**

You can have a tea party for two or a dozen...

I am a firm believer in honoring "Ones Self" It is always good to share with those you love, but remember having a beautiful tea party can be a very wonderful way to teach yourself.

So for now, I will share a good tea mixture along with its properties with you, and this will be our tea party!

Burdock Root is one of my most favorite herbs!

-Burdock is a blood purifier, eliminates long term impurities very rapidly.
-Reduces swelling around joints
-increases the flow of urine
-good source of iron, making it an excellent choice for iron deficiencies
-it has been used for coughs, colds, sore throats
-Neutralizes most poisons
-has been subsituted for Chaparral very effectively.
-it is safe to use during pregnacy.

(Now, working with burdock is a slow process, but once it is in your system, it works very good!)

Nettle

-has been beneficial for anemic's as a tea because it is high in iron, silicon and potassium.
-it is an alkalizing herb and a rich source of minerals
-aids with diarrhea
-flow of urine
-excellent remedy for dandruff and myths says it will bring back the orginial color of your hair
-cleanses the digestive trace and aids with stomach problems
-it functions like a mild cayenne by opening the vessels thus increasing circulation and uplifting a weary body.

Comfrey

-This herb has been used for centuries in healing wounds especially when heavy bleeding was involved.
-used for soothing inflammation
-strengthens the skeletal system

** PLEASE NOTE ON COMFRY- THERE HAVE BEEN STUDIES THAT SAID COMFRY CAUSED CANCER IN TEST ANIMALS! SCIENTISTS HAD ISOLATED AND EXTRACTED OUT THE ALKALOIDS THAT WERE IN THE PLANT AND THEN MASSIVE DOSES OF THESE ALKALOIDS WERE GIVEN TO THESE TINY RATS THAT CAUSED TUMORS AND CANCER. LATER THE SAME SCIENTISTS TOLD THE MEDIA THAT WHEN THE PRODUCT (COMFREY) WAS GIVEN TO THE RATS IN ITS WHOLE AND NATURAL STATE, THIS DID NOT HAPPEN!**

Spearmint and Rose Petals will be added for a wonderful flavor and aroma.

Our Tea

2 teaspoons of Burdock Root
2 teaspoons of Nettle
2 teaspoons of Spearmint
1 teaspoon of Comfrey
1 teaspoon of Rose Petals

Bring a quart of water to a boil, and pour over herbs. Let the tea steep for about 15 minutes covered! Shall I pour us a cup?

I have personally received many tea cups as gifts from my friends and co-workers. Check out my WhiteOak's Zazzle Gallery where you can purchase unique artwork on coffee/tea cups. Remember the Holidays are not far away.

"I drink this tea iced or hot.
I use Lemon Balm instead of
rose petals, sometimes."

Cranberry-Orange Scones recipe

did you know.....

Did you know that Cranberry has properties in it that act as a natural antibiotic? Orange is loaded with Vit C (I know everyone knows that) I love making this recipe. It freezes very good so you can always have some on hand!

Cranberry-Orange Scones

2 cups organic unbleached flour
1 tablespoon of Sugar
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of sea salt (or less)
1/2 stick of butter cubed.
Blend together until it crumbables.
Mix in....
2 eggs
3/4 cup heavy cream ( I know..I know...use what you like)

Flour dust 1/2 cup cranberries with 1 Tablespoon of flour and add to mixture, add 2 teaspoons of orange zest and the juice from one orange.

Dust your hands real good with flour so you can work with the dough. You are going to cut into squares then cut the squares again to form a triangle. Use an egg wash ( 1 egg diluted with water) on top of scones and sprinkle with some sugar.

Bake on 400 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

Here are some of my favorite recipe lens from Squidoo!

These lens actually came off of my "Favorite List", I have not tried them all yet, but rest assure, I will!!

Okay, lets imagine for a moment....

It is a beautiful Spring morning, the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming....

And you just know that you need to be outside. I have a little area that has a small round table and chairs in my back yard. Some mornings there is nothing better then going outside to have some tea and to write in your journal.

I have always been a big journal writer. It seems all of my life I have written different things or have done some kind of art. Back in the early 90's I took a course from the Artist's Way Book. It was wonderful! After each class all of us would have herbal tea and snacks and sit around and share with each other.

The Artist Way Book is a book that addresses a delicate and complex subject. For those who will use it, it is a valuable tool to get in touch with your own creativity.

We learned in the book that first thing in the morning before anyone gets up is the best time to journal write. Everything is fresh in your mind, it doesn't matter what you are writing about. You could write about dreams from the night before, the way your feeling in the morning, and believe it or not even write when you have nothing to write about.

Again, every bit of this flows together creating a beautiful time for you to spend alone or with a few friends. Something as simple as a tea party can become a wonderful tranquil time. You can make is as fancy as you want or as simple as you want. Just remember, to allow yourself some time to enjoy the wonderful tiny things in life.

A simple wonderful tea!!

2-teaspoons of Rose Petals
2-teaspoons of Nettle
2-teaspoons of Spearmint
2-teaspoons of Chamomile

Boil a quart of distilled or spring water and pour over herbs. Cover and let it steep for 15 minutes. Strain and add a litte sweetner if you choose. This tea is wonderful a lone or with a slice of homemade breakfast bread.

New Igo GREEN Tip of the Day

I honestly believe every woman should have this book~

Healing Wise (Wise Woman Herbal Series)

Amazon Price: $11.48 (as of 12/29/2009)Buy Now

I have had this book for years! I have been thinking about getting a newer copy, but I would hate to have to transfer all of my notes! This book will teach you so much about what you have growing in your own yard that makes wonderful tea. I really enjoy Susun Weed though, her writing is amazing because she writes in a way that it feels as if the plants are talking directly to you!

Do you have a favorite herbal tea combination? Please share.

Tea AND a scone recipe - you are spoiling us - LOL

I love to cook, garden (organically of course), sew, embroider, research into herbs/flowers... and I LOVE herbal teas and organic coffee.

As for a favorite tea - Hmmmmmmmm, I guess it depends on the day.

I don't really have recipes, I just throw herbs and flowers together. I like to experiment with them.

I love to make a tea with some of my hibiscus flowers, crushed nutmeg or cinnamon and the dried zest of orange peels... when I am chilled and want to warm up and relax.

Well, this was another good lens from you !

    Thank you !

    Organically Yours,
    Diana
