Reiki-A Vision and My Journey

I have a friend who has been doing Reiki for a long time. When I first met her, she shared with me her journey on recieving her degrees in Reiki and the amount of money it cost her. I will mention, it was not cheap at all.

I had introduced her to my group of friends who I attended drumming circles and retreat weekends with.
One thing lead to another and before long she was attuning everyone to Reiki within the circle.

I declined several times when I was asked if I wanted to be attuned to Reiki. There was not any reason per say, it just was not my time, plus I had a hard time getting it into my mind about charging for healing. Today, I have better understanding all the way around!

One day, out of the blue, I had a vision very similar to this picture. It was a group of women all holding hands healing the Earth. I took this vision as a sign that it was time for me to get more involved with Reiki and to get attuned. In my life I have always tried very hard to listen to my spirit guides, especially for the last 25 years or so.

To be honest, recieving my Reiki was something other then tapping into the Universial Healing Energy, I feel I have always done that on some level. For me being attuned gave me structure, direction and focus.

My Reiki teacher bartered all three of my degrees with me. On my third attunment, I gave her my first drum that I ever made; it was made from Goat Skin, in a very powerful ALL DAY spiritual workshop.
The exchange was a good one, because the ending results was I had my third degree in Reiki, and I attended another drum making work shop and made my Elk Skin Drum!

Reiki is Universal Life Force or Universal Energy. The Universe, which is limitless and ever abundant in providing healing energy and directs it through our hands.

I have experienced, both cold energy from some people's hands while doing Reiki and extremly hot energy from other peoples hands while doing Reiki.
I have been told that the energy from hands is extremly hot. While in Reiki class, we had a volunteer lay on the table for others to practice their Reiki on. I remember doing Reiki to their elbow and they said that the energy was extremly hot and very strong feeling.

In each degree of Reiki you learn different symbols and what the symbols mean and how to use them, except for first degree. The first degree is mainly to introduce you to the story of Reiki, what Reiki is, and the teacher will put open you up to universal energy.

In simplier terms: Your first attunement is a formal event wherein a Reiki Master/teacher increases the frequency of the recipient's energy. The Reiki Master will raise your awareness, energetic vibrations, and connect you to the Universal Life Force.

Every person has certain ways they absorb things into their energy. I absorb things that feel right to me, and I work with that. I honor and cherish my Reiki very much and the one symbol I work a great deal with is the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen symbol which is referred to as the Distant Healing Symbol.

I have used this symbol many, many times, even on the computer. There use to be a time when I talked alot in chats and several people knew me and introduced me to other people who needed somekind of healing. So before long, I was doing a lot of distant healing via the computer.

One time, I was doing actual Reiki on this ladys knee that I worked with. She scared me so bad that it shocked me! Never before had I had something like this happen. I was doing Reiki to her knee and she yelled for me stop, and I did so immediately. She got up and left the room and would not talk to me for a while afterwards. Later my boss (who I was friends with) said that she told her that she could feel the energy vibrating inside her knee and it freaked her out! She said, it did not feel like good energy to her?? I can not be the one to judge her for saying that because only she knows what she felt. Oh, by the way, we still remained friends and did not talk about Reiki ever again.

I believe that we all have our stories from doing Reiki, and I will admit that most of mine have been wonderful experiences. When you are doing Reiki (especially if you are a sensitive or empath) while I am doing Reiki, a spiritual movie begins to run on a psychic level of the person I am doing Reiki on. Since I value privacy, I have always been able to switch my thoughts to something else, while allowing the psychic movie to run on.

Does that sound odd or what? I honor every gift that I have been given in my life, and from early childhood my "Spiritual Level" of gifts have been many. If I was to try and switch off my gifts, that to me is showing dishonor, so to take care of the privacy issue I just put my thoughts in other areas.

I believe I had my yorkie Danu for about 1 1/2 years when I decided to attune him to Reiki. That was back in 1999 or 2000.

I wanted him to be able to tap into the Universial Energy to help keep him safe and with good health.

To my surprise, there have been times when I have not felt good myself and I would hold Danu and sure as I am sitting here typing this, I could actually feel Reiki energy coming out of his paws!
I know to those of you that do Reiki will understand this.

This is from one of my books, and I am choosing to write it here because it holds true to me and my experiences: Life force is found everywhere and in all things, including people, animals, plants and even crystals. The universal part of the Reiki definition signifies not only that this basic energy is found in everything, universally, but also that as a system of healing, we are drawing upon this energy from the universe, which is limitless and ever abundant, rather than drawing upon our own personal "ki" or that of another person, animal, plant or ooject.

Crystal Grids are used to magnify Reiki energies for healing. The crystals are arranged in a geometric structure to direct energy inward or outward. A popular shape is the Six Point Star. This is associated with integration, balance, and the heart chakra.



You can send continuous Reiki Energy to a recipient by making a Reiki Crystal Grid. In a regular Reiki session your time is limited; however a Reiki Crystal Grid can be used with distant healing or in person. When using a Grid the energy can continue to be sent even when the other person is off doing other things.

How To Make a Reiki Crystal Grid

Use six quartz crystal points that have been cleansed and charged. From my own personal experience, the size of the crystal point is not as important as making sure it is well cleansed. Place the crystal points on a hard surface where they can remain still and not be moved. Arrange them with the points, pointing inward towards the middle of the circle.

In the center of the crystal grid place a picture or a small personal item of the person you are healing. You can even write their name on a piece of paper and place that in the middle. Take a moment and center yourself, call in your Reiki Guide and speak your affirmation that this healing will be done for the highest good.



Moving clockwise begin to activate each crystal point. You do this by pointing at each crystal point and saying "Activate!" You would do this three times, next place the Reiki over the top of the crystal grid; making sure to focus on the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen

Using Reiki on Herbs:
When you want to enhance the healing effects of herbs, simply hold the herbs in your hands and allow the Reiki energy to flow into the herbs. You can also draw the Reiki symbol over the herbs. I have done it with food also. Most of the time when I make breads for gifts, I will infuse the bread dough with Reiki Energy. The wonderful thing about Reiki is that people will only take in the energy they need. When I am doing Reiki to my dog, he will allow me to continue until he does need anymore. I am only mentioning this because when I give my breads infused with Reiki healing energy, most of the time no one will notice anything (except maybe they feel good after eating it).

Using Reiki with Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of scents to change consciousness. You can put Reiki energy into oils by holding the bottle of oil in your hands and allowing the Reiki to flow through, or you can place the Reiki symbol over the bottle.
Once I had a healing center that treated athletics with injuries call me and asked if I had massage oil that could be used to help soothe achy and sore muscles on light athlete injuries. I said at that time I did not but I would be glad to design some and send them a sample to try so I did. This became my second best selling massage oil, the recipe is:

1 ½ teaspoons of Vitamin E Oil
1 ½ cups Sunflower Oil
2 oz. Sweet Almond Oil
½ oz. Apricot Oil
¼ teaspoon of each of the following oils: orange, lemon, peppermint and tangerine
½ teaspoon eucalyptus oil

I held the bottle in my hands and infused it with Reiki energy, and before I mailed some to the center as a sample, I drew the Master Reiki symbol over the bottle.

Working with Plant Spirits

When you want to work with plant spirits for healing, you need to bring yourself in all aspects into alignment with the plants energy. This is the same principle for the Crystal Kingdom and the Animal Kingdom.
When you align with the spirit of plants you are asking for permission from that plant to be your guide and teach you its medicine. Once this is achieved each plant has an array of healing powers and the healer can call upon the plant for its healing energy for their clients. You would blow the energy of the healing plant into a Reiki symbol to enhance the healing process. As an example:
Let's say I have a client who comes to me for insomnia. I would connect with the energy of the spirit of Valerian Root, take that energy and blow it into the Cho Ku Rei symbol and begin to do Reiki on my client's solar plexus area. Many times the clients will feel the effects of the valerian root without taking the actual supplement.
