Whitewater Rafting
Here's a fun fact for you - the United States has 3,500,000 miles of rivers. That's quite a lot, isn't it? This also means that no matter what you're looking for in whitewater rafting - anything from a mild beginner's ride through picturesque surroundings of a lazy afternoon to make it home just in time for dinner, to the ultimate life-threatening, hellish juggernaut challenges in the most out of control rivers of wild Arizona - you can be sure you will find what you're looking for.

Whitewater Rafting In Maine
Dead River (Class 03/05) -
No, the name does not come from all the drowned rafters. This is a great river, which offers the longest stretch of continuous whitewater in Maine and the entire East. Start at Grand Falls and finish the 16-mile whitewater trip at The Forks.
Kennebec River (Class 02/04) -
Another great river in the State of Maine. 12 miles of whitewater. Begin the trip at Harris Station on Indian Pond, then ride all the way through the Kennebec Gorge and finally end it all at The Forks, where the mighty Dead and Kennebec Rivers join.
Penobscot River (Class 03/05) -
McKay Station is the starting point. First 2 miles through the Ripogenus Gorge. The 14-mile trip ends near Pockwockamus Falls.
The whitewater rafting season in the state of Maine begins at the first day of May. It officially closes in late October, so this leaves you plenty of time to come to Maine and enjoy some serious whitewater rafting - on a daily basis. This is because hydropower dams release vast quantities of water every day, so the water levels remain suitable for Maine whitewater rafting for over five months. In addition, this only applies to Maine. No other state in the Northeast can offer you that.
If you are looking for the best Maine whitewater rafting experience, you might want to consider going there in September or even early October. Why?
· Number one, most of the Maine whitewater rafting outfitters offer discounts on the trips. On average, you are most likely to save up around 15-30% of the total cost. You do not even have to go there with your church group or all the neighbors.
· Number two, the place is much less crowded, because everybody has gone back to work and school. Hence the discounts, too.
· Number three, when you go whitewater rafting in Maine, you can be sure that water temperatures remain above 60 degrees Fahrenheit (15° Celsius), even in early

What people have to say about
Whitewater Rafting:
"What an awesome adventure! The Lower Gauley was a PERFECT first rafting experience and I can't wait to do the Upper next year! (Even if I did get tossed by a Class III- haha) Justin was FABULOUS!!! I don't know how he kept such great control over a raft full of wild women. Hope to see him and the rest of the crew next year!"
"OH. MY. GOD. I have NEVER had such fun in my life... I'll be back the next year, that's for SURE! And the year after that. And the year after that!"
"I can honestly say that this whitewater rafting trip I did with you guys was one helluva adventure! Awesome, GREAT, I don't know how you call it, but that's the LIFE!"
"And I though I could never do such a crazy thing as to let myself be put in a little raft and go down the most frightening river I've ever seen... Well, I'm still at a loss of words, but I'll just say, that forget the calm resting in the backyard - I want ADVENTURE and ADVENTURE only from now on!"
