TO: My Women Readers

I hope you enjoy my urban fantasy Inanna's Revenge. It is still a work in progress in that I intend to edit some more when I get the free time. After my initial private publishing of the novel, I decided that it might prove helpful to my readers if I wrote an Author's Note to them.

I must admit that this note is written in a very subjective manner. I have had a very difficult time writing in an objective fashion about the all-male priesthoods of modern religion, and the great harms they do to our societies.

When I began writing Inanna's Revenge, I envisioned writing a humorous little urban fantasy in which I intended to poke fun at the modern sexually frustrated priests of the three major western religions. I especially wanted to poke fun at the Christian denominations of the Deep South, and the Bible-thumping fundamentalist preachers I had known as a child.

As my little writing project progressed, I learned more and more about just how bad discrimination against women was in the modern world. As the son of a woman, and the father of a woman, I became quite concerned about the effete and sexually oppressive little fops who call themselves priests, preachers, reverends, ministers, rabbis, and imams in our societies. Some of the men in the more obscure Christian cults of America even call themselves messiahs. These narcissistic personality disorders often regard themselves as made in god's image, and all women made as secondary clones of Adam's rib. Moreover, they use the premise of women being second in time to man in the Garden of Eden as an excuse to sexually, financially, and spiritually oppress them.

I realize that you might say I am making some serious value judgments about western religions and their priesthoods, and that I might also be engaging in a condescending and scornful criticism of the priests. It can also be said that I am singling out the bad apples in the barrel, and not giving credit to the truly honest and caring priests of modern religion. Furthermore, one might say that I am insulting those believers who obtain comfort from their houses of worship. The reader could state I mock believers who are purchasing a form of spiritual afterlife insurance in the myth and dogma of their religions.

I answer the above complaints by pointing out that priesthoods continue to engage in condescending and scornful criticisms of all women throughout the world. Even in the light of harsh criticisms by the public, judicial systems, and concerned members of the clergies, the priesthoods have continued their felonious conduct against our children, and oppressive conduct against our women. They deserve strong criticism.

The amount of felony rape against our children is staggering. For example, in July 2007, the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, California, agreed to payout $660 million in a settlement with over 500 pending lawsuits against the priests. That's just in one diocese. The total amount of lawsuits settled and pending against the Catholic Church around the world is staggering. It is estimated that 30-35% of that priesthood is actively and aggressively homosexual. Only after suffering massive judgment awards in courts of law has the church begun taking steps to curb this corrupt problem. Remember, many of the bishops were once child-raping priests, and they rarely have any inclination to prosecute one of their own good buddies.

Aside from raping little children of both sexes, across the world the all-male priesthoods still attack and oppress women at every opportunity. They apparently cannot help themselves. So, while it is true that I call them fops, personality disorders, and other insulting names, I honestly feel that I am justified in doing so. I hope my women readers agree with me in this regard.

When I was a young boy first beginning my studies of the Bible in the Deep South, the male ministers and male Sunday school teachers of my church informed me that "men are superior to women, Jesus is superior to men and God is above all. Women should worship all of them." (Corinthians 14: 34 & 35)

When I later studied Islam in college I learned that the Quran parrots the Christian dogma when it says: "Men have authority over women, for that God has preferred in bounty one of them over another, and for that they have expended of their property. Righteous women are therefore obedient . . . and those you fear may be rebellious, admonish them to their couches, and beat them." (Quran, Women, verse 38)

In college I also learned that Jewish men begin their daily prayers thanking God for not having created them as women. Their Torah (Old Testament) states "Women are for taking care of our children and protecting us against sins."

When I studied comparative law, I learned that Muslim men are taught to regard women as unequal under Islamic law, i.e., the woman is only half as equal as men in legal and financial matters. The Quran says "And call into witness two men, or if two be not men, then one man and two women." (Quran, The Cow. Verse 282)

As I pointed out in my novel, the oppression of women begins early in the Bible: "I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt being forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." (Genesis 3:16)

I always found it strange that the priests writing Genesis even made motherhood a God-inflicted curse. Even stranger is the idea that God would create his first woman as a "defective" clone of Adam's rib.

Very early in the Old Testament, the writers state, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." (Exodus 22:18) That one verse is responsible for the torture and death of unknown numbers of women.

Later in the New Testament, the Christian faith decided to really put women in their place: "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." (Timothy 2: 11-14)

There was Paul. He was a tax collector of Jewish birth who hated women. In fact, Paul probably hated just about everybody who did not perfectly agree with him. He created the Religion of Paul, which spoke about Jesus occasionally. He claimed that Eve was subject to deception, and this made her inferior to Adam. As a result, he demanded that women should take the lead from the men who are not subject to being deceived. Women should only be man's helper, and should not teach in the church nor lead men in any fashion.

Then there is good old Martin Luther. Martin was a rather crazy little man who suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder as well as a hatred of women. He said "If a woman grows weary and at last dies from child-bearing, it matters not. Let her die from bearing, she is there to do it. This same "dying in child-birth is Okay" philosophy runs rampant with the men of the Islamic faith also."

Did you ever hear of the fundamentalist Christian churches that fought tooth and claw to pass laws that would stop women from receiving anesthesia during childbirth because the Bible says they should suffer in birthing labor?

In today's society, we Americans often see examples of oppression of one class of people or another. It is noteworthy, however, that the greatest amount of oppression against citizens remains the oppression against women by our modern western religions.

In many areas of the Deep South where I live, women are still second-class citizens. There is a religious-fostered war against women in South Carolina where I live. For example, in some of the more dogmatic Christian homes in the western part of the South Carolina, women are still expected to speak only when spoken to by the husband. They eat separately from the men. They do not preach in their churches. They are expected to cook, clean house, have sex, and give birth to children -- period.

The Bible remains a handbook for the oppression of women. The all-male priesthoods continually beat girls and women over the head with the Bible and remind them of their "uncleanliness," their transgressions, their willingness to be deceived, and their master-servant relationship to their husband.

In most third-world sects within our modern western religions, fathers own their daughters and can sell them into bondage. In some countries, especially Islamic and Hindu areas, a daughter can be executed if she disobeys her father.

Recall how the Old Testament encouraged the rape of women during time of war.

From the time of Babylonia until today, if a man has sex with a woman, he is deemed masculine and full of vigor. The woman he sleeps with, however, is deemed a harlot or whore.

The evil, satanic women always allure men into having sex with them, never vice versa. The man is always the innocent victim of her enticement.

Even Jesus scorned his own mother, refused to bless her, and issued warnings about being around pregnant and nursing women - who are deemed unclean.

We all must die because of women. "And a man will choose...any wickedness, but the wickedness of a woman . . . Sin began with a woman and thanks to her we all must die." (Ecclesiastes, 25:18, 19 & 33)

I HOPE MY NOVEL WILL BE A SURVIVAL MANUAL FOR YOUNG WOMEN. IF I SAVE ONE YOUNG WOMAN FROM ALL-MALE PRIESTHOOD OPPRESSION, ALL OF MY HARD WORK ON THE NOVEL WILL BE JUSTIFIED.
