Chuck Norris, six-time world professional karate champion, movie and TV star and, more recently, a WND columnist, is visiting U.S. troops in Iraq where he says the surge is working and "morale is up - way up!"
Norris is visiting 15 bases - including remote outposts - at the invitation of the assistant commandant of the Marines, Gen. Bob Magnus. It's Norris' second trip to encourage the troops. Last November, his United Service Organizations tour with Marines in Iraq was described by Corps officials as one of the best received ever.
Norris' pastor, Todd DuBord, who is part of the traveling team that arrived last week, says Norris so far has seen more than 10,000 soldiers, "shaking hands with nearly every one!"
Norris said in an e-mail from Iraq two things have become very apparent as he has traveled from base to base: The "surge is working" and "morale is up - way up!"

So the joke would read after the martial arts star announced his endorsement Sunday for the former Arkansas governor.
"Though (Rudy) Giuliani might be savvy enough to lead people, Fred Thompson wise enough to wade through the tides of politics, (John) McCain tough enough to fight terrorism, and (Mitt) Romney business-minded enough to grow our economy, I believe the only one who has all of the characteristics to lead America forward into the future is ex-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee," Chuck Norris wrote in a commentary posted on WorldNetDaily.com.

- I have been a long time fan of Chuck. I even studied martial arts with him and then with one of his best friends, Richard Prieto for 2 years in the early to mid 80's and then they simply got too busy with Hollywood. I will go as far as to say that he was my idol at one point in time. However, my thoughts about him have changed somewhat with his attacks on Obama. His words and views have unsettled me greatly and I now find him a bit disturbing.

- Thanks Susan, for this great lens! I've been a Chuck Norris fan ever since I had the pleasure of doing stunt work for his leading lady in the "Octagon." You do such a great job of gathering all this info. BTW, Squidoo is addictive, I forget to eat and sleep :-) Thanks for being my first fan - you made my day! (Ooops, wrong action hero...)

- I used to watch a lot of Chuck Norris movies as a teenager. I've tuned in to Walker: Texas Ranger on different occasions as well, though a combination of work and having a young daughter who loves to watch the Family channel doesn't permit me the opportunity to watch it as often as I'd like.
I remember as a teen going to bed at night and, when I would say my prayers - praying for God to bless numerous family members and friends - I would always add Chuck Norris' name to the list. It's nice to see this lens dedicated to him and the causes he supports. Thanks for sharing it!
