A Glimpse of Jesus In The Bible! Christ, Man of History, Savior of the world!
Who is Jesus to me? Who is Jesus to you? This lens is my tribute to my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. I know I can only scratch the surface, but if I make lenses for myself and Squidoo, I must make at least one completely dedicated to Jesus. Please read it as a part of my personal testimony.
Who is Jesus to me?
He is the First and Last, the Beginning and the End!
He is the keeper of Creation and the Creator of all!
He is the Architect of the universe, and The Manager of all times.
He always was, He always is, and He always will be... Unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone!
He was bruised and brought me healing!
He was pierced and eased my pain!
He was persecuted and brought me freedom!
He was dead and brought me life!
He is risen and brings me power over death and the grave!
He reigns as King of Kings and brings me Peace!
The world can't understand him, and their armies can't defeat Him,
The schools can't explain Him, but our leaders can't ignore Him.
Herod couldn't kill Him, the Pharisees couldn't confuse Him, and the people couldn't hold Him!
Nero couldn't crush Him, Hitler couldn't silence Him, the New Age can't replace Him, and neither Donahue, Rivera, nor Oprah can explain Him away!
He is light, love, longevity, and my personal Lord.
All of the words above may not original with me, but it is all my testimony!

A glimpse of Jesus
Who is Jesus Christ To Me?
Jesus is the central figure of all Christianity. The uniqueness of our faith is that He is both God and man. We believe that He created the world and mankind, and that He is very much alive today. Jesus both taught and personified God's love. I believe that through personal repentance and faith in Him, His sacrificial life provides redemption for all mankind. He died on a cross for the sins of all humanity and rose again 3 days later. A Christian believes that faith in him brings salvation.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
(Note: All Scriptures in this module are ESV -English Standard Version)
Jesus is His name.
Jesus is the name normally used in English, translated from the Hebrew "Yeshua" and Aramaic "Isho" or "Eshoa".
Matthew 1:21 She (Mary) will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
Christ is His Title
Christ means "anointed one." He is Jesus, the anointed One; Jesus the Messiah; Jesus the Son of God; Jesus, the Son of David; Jesus, the Son of Man.
Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Nature of Christ
Jesus is both man and God. The full indwelling of God in man is known as the Incarnation, and is our celebration reason for Christmas. The Bible tells us that Jesus is God in human flesh (John 1:1 and John 1:14). He is not half God and half man. He is fully divine and fully man. I admit that I cannot understand this, and I do understand that there is much disagreement over His nature. However, this is the way most Christians believe.
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Matthew 1:23 "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel" (which means, God with us).
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Birth of Jesus
Jesus was born in Bethlehem, somewhere around 4 BC. His mother was Mary, who the Bible says was a virgin at the time. She was married to a carpenter, named Joseph, from Galilee. We do not know when Jesus was born, but Christians celebrate Christmas as His birthday.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. (Mat 1:18)
Life of Jesus:
The known life, ministry, miracles and direct teaching of Jesus are found in the Gospels. These are 4 books (Gospel of Matthew, Gospel of Mark, Gospel of Luke, and Gospel of John) in the Bible. The gospel accounts of Jesus' life document abundant miracles that Jesus completed. Among these, He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind and calmed the storms. These wonders act as a witness to the deity of Christ, as well as to His kindness.
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. (John 20:30-31)
Most Famous Sermon and Teaching of Jesus:
One of the most well know sections of teaching is called the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus commanded his disciples to live lives of love, loving God, their family and friends and even loving their enemies. Jesus also taught about himself as the only way a person could come to know God. He often used illustrations and stories, called parables, to teach of the kingdom of God and of the nature of God.
Jesus is widely regarded as a teacher, a great teacher, and He often went by that name, "Teacher."
Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Mat 5:1-10)
Death of Jesus
Jesus Christ's death was by crucifixion, somewhere around 30 AD. His claim to be Son of God was considered blasphemous by the spiritual leaders of His day. The Bible teaches that His death opened the way for redemption of all mankind. His death is commemorated on Good Friday but it is not the end of the story. Christians believe He rose from the dead.
John 19:30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished," and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Resurrection of Jesus
Three days after the crucifixion, Jesus appears, risen from the dead. There were over 500 witnesses to the resurrected Jesus Christ. He sent his disciples out into the world to tell the good news that Jesus still lives and He saves and redeems all who call upon Him in faith. Today millions of people know Him as their risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We celebrate his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise." And they remembered his words, (Luke 24:6-8)
And that he appeared (after the resurrection) to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. (1st Corinthians 15:5-6)

- Dear Pastor Walt and Barbara,
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on your lens. A lens with some mighty words! But does the bible really sooport such statements?
'A Glimpse of Jesus In The Bible! Christ, Man of History, Savior of the world!' All, except the last four words. The bible doesn't seem to support such statements as coming from Jesus (peace upon him). No where in the bibile does Jesus say I am God nor worship me. To the contrary, Jesus points out that he can do nothing, but with will of the Father, which is in heaven. Mark says something similar ?He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.? (Mark 6:5). Jesus answers to the question: ??Of all the commandments, which is the most important?' ?The most important one,' answered Jesus, ?is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'? (Mark 12:28-30). Notice in this crucial moment Jesus didn't mention anything about three in one being god, he simply stated as it is: the Lord, OUR God, the Lord is one.
I realize that asking someone to consider Islam today might sound a bit too much to ask, but you owe it to yourself to check out this teaching, which we believe was the teaching of Jesus the son of Mary and of all the prophets send by God to human kind to guide them. Afterall, Islam is the only non-Christian religion that accepts and recognizes Jesus as the word given by God to Mary. We believe in his miraculous birth (something most modern Christians do not believe) and that he performed other miracles by the permission and will of Allah, as he says himself in the bible. The Qur'an speaks in great detail about Jesus' birth and life and has a full chapter named after his mother, Mary. Our salvation is at stake here, so this should not be taken lightly. As believers in God, I urge to check out your own sources http://www.biblecenter.de/bibliothek/baixeras/whoisjesus.html as well as concider the alternative offered here, also from the sources: http://www.squidoo.com/god-in-islam
May God guides us all in the right path, Amen.
