The Kennedy Assassination

Who Killed JFK

According to The Warren Commission - Oswald acted alone.

According to the House Select Committee on Assassinations - President Kennedy was probably assassinated as the result of a conspiracy.

According to conspiracy thoerists - it was the CIA, the FBI, the Military, the Mafia, the Anti-Castro Cubans, the Russians, or a host of other suspects.

Having seen the Zapruder film, read several books on the assassinaion, seen several television documentaries, and watched the Oliver Stone movie JFK, I've come to the following conclusions:

1. Lee Harvey Oswald did not kill JFK, and he wasn't even one of the shooters.
2. The rifle recovered from the School Book Depository was so poorly maintained and misaligned (scope) that it could not have been used to produce the 3 shots in 5.6 seconds, as stated in the Warren Commission Report.
3. The Warren Commission's 'single bullet theory' does not realisticly account for all of the wounds to JFK and Lyndon Johnson.
5. Eyewitnesses immediately reported hearing multiple gunshots and pointing in the direction of the Grassy Knoll, not the School Book Depository building.

Finally, it is my opinion that the JFK assassination was orchestrated by members of the government who needed to remove JFK from office (since he was popular enough to be re-elected in 1964) and reverse his policies (especially witdrawal from Vietnam and the break-up the CIA).

John F Kennedy - Inagural Address January 20, 1961

And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.

Where were you when JFK was shot?

For many Americans, the Kennedy Assassination was a turning point in the American way of life. It was an American tragedy that so deeply affected everyone, the moment you heard the news, where you were and what you were doing, was etched into your memory.

I, however, do not remember where I was. I am told I was in my crib which seemed to make sense since I was only a few months old at the time. Years later, I do remember my mother describing how it seemed as though everything simply stopped for a few days. No one went out, everything was quiet and somber. People simply stayed inside waiting to hear more news about this horrible event.

Then, 2 days later, on November 24th, America was shocked again when Lee Harvey Oswald was murdered on national television, by Jack Ruby, in the basement of the Dallas Police Department, while being transferred from the city to the county jail.

The mood was of total disbelief. How could anything like this possibly happen here in America. The world suddenly became a very scary place, where if the President could be killed, who was protecting the rest of us?

From what my parents tell me, they were genuinely afraid in the days following the assassination. In a way I'm glad I was too young to remember it.

Share your memories...

A watershed moment in American History, many people can still vividly remember exactly where they were, who they were with and what they were doing when they heard that JFK had been shot. Personally, I was an infant, so my best guess would be that I was asleep. But if you remember, take a moment and share your memories and feelings of that tragic day.

The Warren Commission

Let the Official cover-up begin

Immediately after the Assassination of President Kennedy, several investigations were started by various Federal and local agencies. In order to control the investigations and insure that only one conclusion was reached, President Lyndon Johnson established the Warren Commission. The Warren Commission consisted of:

Earl Warren, Chief Justice of the United States, former Governor and attorney general of California, Chair;
Richard B. Russell, Democratic Senator from Georgia and chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, former Governor of Georgia, and county attorney in that State;
John Sherman Cooper, Republican Senator from Kentucky, former county and circuit judge in Kentucky, and United States Ambassador to India;
Hale Boggs, Democratic Representative from Louisiana and majority whip in the House of Representatives;
Gerald R. Ford, Republican Representative from Michigan and chairman of the House Republican Conference;
Allen W. Dulles, lawyer and former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency;
John J. McCloy, lawyer, former President of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and former United States High Commissioner for Germany.

The conclusion of the Commission's report was that Oswald acted alone.

The 'evidence' supporting this conclusion is haphazardly spread over 888 pages plus 26 volumes of supporting documents. In many cases testimony of eyewitnesses is separated into different volumes, important questions are not asked, and key information and evidence is not pursued. As originally made available to the public, the Commission's report had no index, making it even more difficult to read and understand.

For the official account of the crime also states that:

Lee Harvey Oswald fired 3 shots from a 6th floor window of Schoolbook Depoistory building using a high-powered rifle

One shot missed and injured bystander James Tague, under the triple bypass

One shot was the fatal head wound

One shot casued all other injuries to President Kennedy and Governer Connally

The problem with the Commissions finding is that in order to account for all of the non fatal injuries to Kennedy and all of those to Connally, it only had one bullet to work with. This became known as the 'magc bullet' theory. This name is appropriate for 2 reasons. The alleged bullet was found virtually intact on a stretcher at Parkland Memorial Hospital, and the path it needed to take to inflict all of the wounds.

The 'Magic Bullet'

For the Warren Commission findings to be accepted, it proposed the following path of the so called 'magic bullet', to account for all of the non fatal injuries to Kennedy and all of those to Connally.

1. The bullet is alleged to have entered the President's back at the base of his neck
2. It traverses his neck without impacting any bony structure
3. The bullet exited his throat at the level of his tie
4. The bullet then enters the back of Texas Governor John Connally (riding in a jump seat in front of him)
5. The bullet shatters a rib, then exits his chest
6. Impacts his right wrist, and finally
7. Deflects into his left thigh.

During this incredible journey, the bullet leaves fragments in Connally's wrist, and some fragments hit the inside of the windshield of the Presidential Limousine. However, the bullet to which all of this destruction has been attributed, is found in nearly pristine condition.

Additional problems with the 'magic bullet' theory are:

1. The 6.5mm Mannlicher-Carcano supposedly used by Oswald has a muzzle velocity of only 2000 feet per second. This qualifies it as a low to medium velocity rifle, not the high velocity weapon the Warren Report states was used to inflict the wounds.
2. The initial injury, the back wound, was probed by Dr Humes during the autopsy and was found to be a shallow wound with no exit.
3. It is anatomically impossible for the bullet to traverse from the back wound and exit at the throat without impacting any bony structures. The necessary path crosses directly through a cervical vertabrae.
4. The Zapruder film shows Kennedy reacting to the throat wound (about frame 229), yet Connally shows no signs of injury since the bullet is supposed to have entered his back, shattered a rib, hit his wrist, then deflect into his left thigh (you can actually still see Connally holding his hat, which is difficult if he had been shot in the wrist).

For all of these reasons, the 'magic bullet' theory is nothing more than fanciful fiction. Since this single bullet could not possibly have caused all the injuries ascribed to it, there must have been at least one additional shot. Since only three shots were 'fired' by Oswald, there must have been a second shooter.

The Single Gunman Theory Shot Down by Science

Head Shot - Published by Prometheus Books

Head Shot: The Science Behind the JFK Assassination, seeks to correct all of the bad science and misinformation that has been circulated about the JFK Assassination to provide clear and compelling evidence that the Warren Comission's single gunman theory is not only incorrect, but imipossible.

Not another theory by a conspiracy advocate, the author, physicist and ballistics expert G Paul Chambers is uniquely qualified to apply the laws of physics and motion to accurately recreate the events of November 22, 1963. Using the two most valuable pieces of evidence, the Zapruder film and the acoustic evidence recorded on open police radios, and eyewitness information he confirms:

1. The presence of a second gunman in Dealy Plaza
2. The location of the assassins, and
3. The JFK Assassination was, without a doubt, murder

This rigorously researched book dismantles previously published bad science to reveal a solid body of scientific evidence that is consistent, self-authenticating, verifiable and definitive. For anyone looking for a fresh understanding of one of the tumultous events in American history, Head Shot is a must read.

The Kennedy Assassination - Conspiracy Theories

There are many conspiracy theories regarding the assassination of John F. Kennedy on 22 November, 1963 that arose soon after his death and continue to be promoted today. Most put forth a criminal conspiracy involving parties as varied as the CIA, the KGB, the American Mafia, FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, former Vice President Richard Nixon, sitting Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, anti-Castro Cuban exile groups, far right extremists, the Federal Reserve, the military-industrial complex, representatives of Big Business, or some combination of those entities and individuals.

This may be disturbing to some viewers

In Dallas Texas on November 22, 1963, Abraham Zapruder was in Daley Plaza with his 8mm home movie camera to record President Kennedy's motorcade as it passed through Dealey Plaza, taking the President to the Dallas Trade Mart where he was scheduled to make a speech.

What resulted however, is the most complete visual recording of the assassination of the President.

What do you think

Who Killed JFK?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

It was a conspiracy from within our own government

drs2biz says:

I don't think it was the U.S. government that was responsible. JFK was probably the last American president that was not just a puppet of the New World Order movement. He was just too dangerous for them to leave alive.

Shadrosky says:

It is impossible that it was NOT a conspiracy

notimetoulouse says:

Lyndon Johnson was about to be dumped as VP. LBJ had big friends inside Big Oil, and the Military Industrial Complex. JFK had already signed an executive order that would have begun withdrawing troops from Vietnam, thus ruining a major profit stream for US industry.
The day after the assassination, LBJ rescinded that order and sent in more troops. Call me a cynic, but.....

skiesgreen says:

I think it was the Russians and to keep WWIII from starting Oswald was the scapegoat. The Bay of Pigs was a big put down for Kruschev and they had the means, the motive and the opportunity. Assassination of Russian enemies is a great pastime for the KGB.

DeeEllEmm says:

secret serviceman, deaf and dumb man seen a secret service man at the top of the grassy knoll turned the other way (why would you be looking the other way if the president had just been shot?) the man turned and through the rifle to a man holding a tool box, this man then walked towards the underpass!

mukunda22 says:

It was a Coup!!

Joan4 says:

yes, i believe it was a conspiracy. what a scary time for all of us!

mukunda22 says:

It was a conspiracy, alright. Don't get me started!!!!!

Spook says:

I never would have believed this possible with the way I was brought up. However although JFK was charismatic, I believe they thought he was a real danger to America.

kimmanleyort says:

I really don't know but wouldn't be surprised if there were more involved.

BevsPaper says:

I have believed all along that our own government along with some other bad guys did this.

KathyMcGraw says:

I wouldn't put it past our Government at the time. Some people were mighty powerful, and not everyone can ethically handle power. I was in 6th grade and remember this day well.

Oswald acted alone

oswald was a violent man, he beat his wife. he left the TSBD 3 minutes after kennedy was shot!

    great! I was hoping someone would do this study on Squidoo. I would also like to see a lens that would let everyone report where they were on the day Kennedy was shot. I was a college student and I remember every detail of that day and the days that followed. We all need to write our thoughts about that time in history. Blessed.

    As I said on your Red Gage site, I work closely with what I call a Kennedy Assassination scholar here in PA--we are deeply engaged in Healthcare reform, here. So I've heard all of the stories. My friend, Jerry Policoff, was one of the researchers for the Oliver Stone movie about the JFK assassination.

    He also says that Sirhan Sirhan did not kill RFK. The shot that killed Bobbie came from behind, and struck him in the area behind the ear.

    I like what you did here. I don't know of anyone else who tackled the topic here on Squidoo, but you have done an excellent job.

    The book "Brothers," by David Talbot is excellent, too. Jerry knows that author of that book, as well. Appaernetly, when the assassins began doing their job, LBJ was heard sayng, "It's a Coup."

    Chilling.
