The God Who Wasn't There?

People put a lot of trust in the idea that there is an eternal omnipotent all-loving deity watching over us, despite there being no actual evidence.

Is God real, or is History correct in that every major religion is simply out to control us by making virtues into sins and making you think less of yourself?

What do you think?

Did God make man, or did man make God?

Offended?

If for some reason you are of the opinion that MY opinion offends you in some way, feel free to vote this lens down like loads of other offended people have done. See the stars at the top right of the page?

God at a Glance

God is a deity in theistic and deistic religions and other belief systems, representing either the sole deity in monotheism, or a principal deity in polytheism.Swinburne, R.G. "God" in Honderich, Ted. (ed)The Oxford Companion to Philosophy, Oxford University Press, 1995.

God is most often conceived of as the supernatural creator and overseer of the universe. Theologians have ascribed a variety of attributes to the many different conceptions of God. The most common among these include omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, omnibenevolence (perfect goodness), divine simplicity, and eternal and n...

The Lunacy of Religion

SINGLE CHRISTIANS check out my Lens for links of support, encouragement and great online resources.

My Comment for those who don't believe in God or His Word, I would say that it really doesn't matter if you deny that Bible is the Word of God, Jesus Christ, Hell or Judgment Day.

Why? True Christians (not religion) have already presented God's Law (the Ten Commandments)to bring awareness and knowledge of sin. It's strictly your gift of free will that gives you, alone, to make such a big decision.

It is a fact that we all will die, right? SO, WHAT IF IT's TRUE that all (including You) are destined to face God and receive Judgment according to your actions on Earth (according to the laws) and, more importantly, acceptance of Jesus Christ, then what?

In other words -- If YOU are walking down the middle of the freeway saying that you don't believe in trucks, does that mean you won't get hit? No, Your unbelief does not change reality.

Thanks Lewis.

The belief or disbelief in God, depends on how the word is defined. And the God word does not have to be used, any chosen label will do just fine. The whole of consciousness or as the ancient Egyptians called it "The All", couldn't care less. We and the universe are like a dream within the mind of God.

Nice lens, Lewis. I gave it 5 stars. I've never seen the Hubble piece before. For me it confirms my faith in a supreme creator. What Hubble found in 2003 just scratches the surface of God's creations. There's much more for Man to discover as God reveals it to him. "World's without number have I created."

Hi Lewis,
I love the Hubble Deep Field. Truly amazing. Looking at the stars makes me wonder what the hell I am doing here, or tells me that this isn't life here.

I love God, because He is my Source, and loves me. He did not create this meaningless world. He did not make death. There is no death.

God? The real question to ask is: which one? Certainly not Allah, or the Jehovah of the Bible. If there is a God, he must be a mystery, unknown and unknowable.

To each his own. I just like to make one observation from my own experience. It seems that many people who are Godless finds Religion after they under goes some major tragedy in their lives or on their death bed.

It is very easy to believe you can do without God as long as you have all his consolations, such as friendship and love, and all the good things nature gives us. It will be another matter once those consolations are all gone too! God bless you, Lewis, we love you for LOTS of reasons!

Be sure about one thing. There is no god. Eventually we will look at the current Big Three (actually there are many more but as Americans we have to either be for or against something therefore there are only three) and laugh at them as we now perceive the Greek/Roman Gods. Be sure about that! Rob

Kudos Lewis for speaking your mind. No one should be chastised for sharing their opinion And although I don't necessarily agree, it was an interesting read nonetheless.

There's a big difference in believing in God and being religious. "No actual evidence" of God? Open your eyes (oh, yeah, God made those, too) and look around!

Lack of evidence for something does not disprove it, as many athiests would have people believe. There is more evidence supporting the people, places and events reported in the Bible than there ever has been for evolution (the only other alternative).

There are 4,000,000,000 solar systems in the galaxy. NASA calculates that there are 4,000,000,000 galaxies in the known universe; all emanating from the 'big bang' some 15,000,000,000 years ago.

Howefer it happened I don't believe any deity had anything to do with it.
