The God Who Wasn't There?
People put a lot of trust in the idea that there is an eternal omnipotent all-loving deity watching over us, despite there being no actual evidence.
Is God real, or is History correct in that every major religion is simply out to control us by making virtues into sins and making you think less of yourself?
What do you think?
Did God make man, or did man make God?
Offended?

God at a Glance
God is the principal or sole deity in religions and other belief systems that worship one deity.Swinburne, R.G. "God" in Honderich, Ted. (ed)The Oxford Companion to Philosophy, Oxford University Press, 1995. The singular, capitalized God of monotheistic religions is commonly contrasted with the gods of polytheistic religions.
God is most often conceived of as the supernatural creator and overseer of the universe. Theologians have ascribed a variety of attributes to the many different conceptions of God. The most common among these include omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, omnibenevolence...

The belief or disbelief in God, depends on how the word is defined. And the God word does not have to be used, any chosen label will do just fine. The whole of consciousness or as the ancient Egyptians called it "The All", couldn't care less. We and the universe are like a dream within the mind of God. Posted June 09, 2008 |

Nice lens, Lewis. I gave it 5 stars. I've never seen the Hubble piece before. For me it confirms my faith in a supreme creator. What Hubble found in 2003 just scratches the surface of God's creations. There's much more for Man to discover as God reveals it to him. "World's without number have I created." 5* to counteract the 1* votes since I don't believe lenses should be rated 1* just because someone doesn't agree with you. Posted September 11, 2007 |
God? The real question to ask is: which one? Certainly not Allah, or the Jehovah of the Bible. If there is a God, he must be a mystery, unknown and unknowable.

To each his own. I just like to make one observation from my own experience. It seems that many people who are Godless finds Religion after they under goes some major tragedy in their lives or on their death bed. Posted September 08, 2007 |

It is very easy to believe you can do without God as long as you have all his consolations, such as friendship and love, and all the good things nature gives us. It will be another matter once those consolations are all gone too! God bless you, Lewis, we love you for LOTS of reasons! Posted September 07, 2007 |

Be sure about one thing. There is no god. Eventually we will look at the current Big Three (actually there are many more but as Americans we have to either be for or against something therefore there are only three) and laugh at them as we now perceive the Greek/Roman Gods. Be sure about that! Rob

Glad you put up the lens Lewis. It's important that people use their mind and not go blindly down the road of life. Posted September 03, 2007 |
The Big Bang is a joke. The total weight of all that mass would collapes in upon itself, into a black hole.
Any force strong enough to blow any mass of stars that dense would have vaporized the intire mass!

Kudos Lewis for speaking your mind. No one should be chastised for sharing their opinion And although I don't necessarily agree, it was an interesting read nonetheless. Posted September 01, 2007 |

There's a big difference in believing in God and being religious. "No actual evidence" of God? Open your eyes (oh, yeah, God made those, too) and look around! Posted September 01, 2007 |

Lack of evidence for something does not disprove it, as many athiests would have people believe. There is more evidence supporting the people, places and events reported in the Bible than there ever has been for evolution (the only other alternative). Posted August 31, 2007 |
There are 4,000,000,000 solar systems in the galaxy. NASA calculates that there are 4,000,000,000 galaxies in the known universe; all emanating from the 'big bang' some 15,000,000,000 years ago.
Howefer it happened I don't believe any deity had anything to do with it.
