This is Her Story

Lisa D was born Lisa Jane Bowers in Muncie, Indiana on July 1, 1966. She had one older sister and one younger brother...so yes, she was the middle child. This family was raised on a farm for many years. Mom and Dad both worked very hard. Dad worked in a battery factory at night and farmed during the day. He grew corn and soybean and raised cows and horses. Occasionally a stray dog would be dropped on their doorstep and cats were always having kittens...so the farm was lively. Lisa would often torment her younger brother by leading him across the pasture to the barn...tiptoeing around cowpatties, it was the 1970's version of Little House on the Prairie. Lisa's Dad died in 1973 right around Thanksgiving, he was young, only 36. No one saw it coming, one day he just slipped away.

Mom sold everything at auction, bought a camper and took the kids to California. She dated occasionally and met a marine who she married and had another child with. Lisa's 2nd brother. Quite inexplicably, this man died too, leaving now 3 children fatherless. Mom tried several relationships over the years, moving back and forth from Indiana to California...it was kind of like they were a floating family, looking for dry land.

When Lisa was in High School she discovered the stage, it was her passion. She loved performing, being someone else, and becoming bigger than life. She clung to her drama friends, it was like a second family. Mom found a wonderful man and things started looking up for the family. Lisa graduated High School and continued on her dramatic path to a Performing Arts School in Central California. Suddenly she was a small fish in a much bigger pond and the shy awkward teenager got a harsh dose of reality. After two years, the teachers told her to find another career, she did not have what it took to be an actress.

Somewhat crushed Lisa moved closer to her family and lived with her sister. She worked full time in an accounting office as a secretary and worked in the community theater at night, it was truly the life. Eventually she got her own apartment, started dating and creating a life for herself. The community theater became her home, she was involved with every production, either on-stage or behind the scenes, she loved it. One day a funny young man showed up for auditions, he was nutty and unusual, an Italian boy from New Jersey that had found his way to the west coast. He and Lisa became fast friends and they eventually fell in love and were married. His name was Bobby D.

The Story of Lisa and Bobby D takes a sad turn. Lisa was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease soon after their wedding, she underwent chemotherapy and radiation for a year. She recovered fully and the two of them continued with their acting careers. They worked in local mystery dinner-theater companies and other local theaters for several years, eventually they had her first baby, Dante, born in July 1994. By the end of the year they had written a script of their own and started their own production company. A few weeks after the curtain opened on their first production, Bobby began feeling ill. A month went by and one morning he collapsed on the bathroom floor.

Bobby was diagnosed with leukemia. The details of what happened to this family over the next 4 years is something no one wants to hear. Bobby was sick, very sick...and never seemed to get better even though the cancer was sent into remission by chemotherapy and radiation. By some miracle, Lisa had another baby in this time frame, she was not expecting it and yet this little baby brought a tiny glimmer of hope to all of them. It was a tough time, the family lived on government programs and Bobby was constantly in and out of the hospital. He lived on pain meds, his personality grew harsh and grim. None of them knew how they were going to climb out of this black hole of sickness and poverty.

On December 15, 1999 Bobby D passed away. He was 38 years old. Lisa knew she had to let him go... go to a place where he was no longer in pain. It was excruciating, but she picked up an went on with her life with her two boys.

Lisa D has learned a lot over the years about the importance of self-esteem. She learned that she never really had any. The journey to find and build self-esteem can be tricky, you trip and fall a lot along the way. After all, how do you know what self-esteem is if you never had any? Lisa has continued on her journey and she has learned the importance of self-love. After a failed second marriage she took a good long hard look in the mirror and decided it was time to grow up.

Lisa Di Clemente is now a pioneer in modern times. She homeschools her children and works at home on the Internet. She is a writer, and a POWERFUL karaoke singer! (wink) One of Lisa's biggest heroes is Robert Kiyosaki, author of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". Reading this book helped her realize that the world is changing, and she is here on this planet to be part of that change. Lisa's goal is to mentor, coach or cheerlead (whatever works for) single parents and others who want to build their independence, find self-esteem, work at home, and create financial freedom.

In addition to these websites, here are a few more words of advice:

1.Do not join an MLM and let them talk you into buying leads, this is a scam that makes the higher ups in the company very rich.
2.Do not buy leads or "guaranteed hits" on the Internet.
3.Do not (I REPEAT do NOT) join companies that want you to fill out surveys, there are credit card and debit card scammers out there just waiting for your personal information.
