Newborn photography is a challenge. It is not like landscape or still life work, where you have an unmoving subject and the opportunity to present it from any possible angle. It is not like traditional portrait photography, either. Anyone who has tried to pose a newborn baby will testify to that! It is, however, possible to take some wonderful photos of newborn babies. If you plan to do some newborn photography, keep the following recommendations in mind.

Tip One: Be ready. Newborns are unpredictable. They do not necessarily move quickly and when they do move, they might not move a lot. However, they are in a constant state of motion and change and what might look like a relatively uninspired scene one moment can be a delightful newborn photography opportunity the next when the young subject suddenly rolls her shoulders and curls his lips in a smile. Those moments can come and go in an instant, so be prepared to capture them! Those who aren't ready will miss out on amazing chances for memorable photography!

Tip Two: Keep clicking. When engaging in newborn photography, do not hesitate to take pictures in quantity. A sequence of ten rapidly clicked shots may reveal, upon eventual inspection, one or two real winners that you may have missed if you were trying to carefully take individual shots.

Tip Three: Keep mom happy. If you are taking photos of a newborn in his or her first days, do so without distracting the parents or making the environment uncomfortable. Even the proud parents of the most gorgeous baby will find it frustrating if the hospital or living room is suddenly transformed into a studio. Be mindful of the baby's rest, the mother's need to rest and tend to the baby, and the maintenance of a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

Tip Four. Respect your subject. You might have the urge to "rearrange" the baby or to "adjust" his or her posture, etc. That is fine. You might get some of the best newborn photography that way. However, you can never forget that the little subject of your photos is a real little person and is deserving of all the respect you would afford any other subject. Slight manipulation of the baby's hands, for instance, might be fine. Moving a sleeping baby around significantly in order to secure a certain shot probably is not.

Tip Five: Mix it up. Take pictures that resemble more traditional portraits and more candid shots that appear more natural. Take pictures of the baby when he or she is content, sleepy, happy, and angry. Try to capture a range of emotions and appearances in your newborn photography. You can get some wonderful keepsake photographs from settings and poses you might not expect to be great.

Newborn pictures aren't just a nice little addition to the excitement of the big day. They really are an important part of those magic moments. They inevitably become family keepsakes, treasured for their ability to spur memories of a new person's first explorations of the world. Don't approach newborn pictures as if they are a triviality. They are anything but trivial. They are incredibly important and are always cherished. Baby photography is an absolute essential.

It can be challenging, but with a little effort and forethought, your newborn photography will create some spectacular results.

Breastfeeding problems, such as milk production difficulties, are not as common when using the PDF feeding method, but they do occur. Even if you are well rested, eating healthy, have a pretty routine life, and your baby is growing and getting enough food, you still may experience a milk production issue. Many things can cause production problems. Here are just a few.

Some things that can affect your milk supply are:
- What mom eats
- How much mom rests and sleeps
- Her state of mind
- The age of the mom
- How many children you have
- Your desire to breastfeed
- Your nursing capabilities
- Your nursing techniques
- Baby's latch on abilities

If you choose to breastfeed, it is very important that you take your baby for their check-ups as needed. If you don't, how will you know if he is getting enough milk and growing at the correct rate? There is no way for you to tell that your child is getting enough nutrition for sure without your child being weighed.

During the first week of your baby's life, your breasts will produce colostrum for them to drink. Colostrum is rich in antibodies and aids the baby's immune system. It also helps him pass his first bowel movement, which is called meconium. Meconium is black and tarry looking and is in the first few diapers after birth. Then he begins to transition to a brown substance and after your milk comes in, it becomes a yellow, mustardy stool that is loose and watery. Bottle-fed baby's pass firmer, tannish stools than breastfed baby's.

After 24-48 hours after birth, your baby will start having wet diapers that will increase to two or three a day.

While your baby drinks colostrum and then milk, you should listen for a pattern of "suck, suck, suck, swallow." This pattern will be rhythmic and there should be no "clicking" noises. The "clicking" sound can indicate that your baby is not properly latched on and may not be getting enough milk from you. If you start to hear this, you need to unlatch him and then reattach him. If you continue to hear this sound after reattaching him several times, then you may want to consult a lactation consultant or your pediatrician.

After the first week of life, you should see 6-8 wet diapers each day and at least 3 bowel movements a day. His urine should be clear and he should become more alert with each passing day. Your baby should also be gaining weight and growing, as this is the surest way to tell that they are getting enough nutrition. If you have two days in a row that deviates from the above indicators, then you should call your pediatrician immediately.

Cute scores, expensive bores. Many of us have in impulse to reach for something expensive or "deluxe" when we're in a gift-buying situation and don't have a clear idea of the perfect present. We reason that we can make up for potentially poor decisions by showing that we were at least ready to invest some of our hard-earned cash on something nice. That may be a splendid idea when you have to dig up an anniversary gift for a business associate, but when it comes to newborn baby gifts, money won't buy you love.

Look for something that stands out a little bit if you want to make an impact. The range of more expensive options within the realm of newborn baby gifts is relatively small and, to be honest, most of the pricier options won't have the meaning or utility of a more reasonably priced, whimsical yet functional item.
