By not branching out and seeing what is available you will never reach your goals or potential in the marketplace. The second problem is only selling products that you know or care about. Say you have been riding motorcycles all your life, it's what you know and it is what you like, so you decide that you want to sell motorcycle gear and accessories online.

Well, the first problem is you may not find a decent amount of products to offer your potential customers and the second thing is you are now limiting yourself to just those particular customers who are looking for that particular item.

With knowledge of a product like he or she has of motorcycles, limiting yourself to just one type of product can be dreadful and limit your potential. This person needs to branch out of his shell and see that only a limited amount of people would be looking for what he likes, when he or she could be branching out to sell many other products other then just motorcycle related items.

Sure knowledge of a product is a huge plus, but knowing to use that knowledge to branch out into other areas related to that product and adding many other products is the way to progress and make money online. The third problem is those who want to sell only those "fad" or "in" items.

This gets a ton of people into trouble. First the fad or for example since electronics is the hot item going today on the internet, and is the "in" thing to have, therefore, thousands of others are thinking the exact same thing as you are already marketing those products, therefore limiting your ability to make a profit. Besides if the market is saturated with the same "in" products that drives the price down to you making little profits.

The person who wants to sell "fad" or "in" items needs to understand that they are not out there just to be the one with the in items. You are out there to make money. For instance, MP3 players and Ipod accessories, the "in" items right now, the market is totally flooded with these products, so it would not be wise to sell these products.

Selling products that go with those items may be the way to start your research for products to sell without the huge competition eating away any profits.

The fourth problem is selling products that are the "top products" or greatest products going is another bad idea. Sure we all want to sell the hot item, but more then likely if it is hot then many others before you already know that and have the market flooded with those hot items from that list you read about.

You can look at this this way, if the carnival is full of people selling popcorn pr peanuts, what would be the greatest product to sell? Not popcorn or peanuts, it would be be a cold drink such as soda or water. You get it now? I'd would be selling that cold drink real quick because there is a need for that product!

Fifth problem is selling a product that someone just happen to say they are selling a ton of them or have made a killing on that product. Well, in most cases they did sell a ton, and did make a good profit, but if they are now why would they be telling you?

I never listen to others stories about I sold 1000 ipods in a week, if they did, great for them, but you can sure bet they are not selling 1,000 of them now because they just let millions of people know what was selling. Now the market is going to be flooded. So, selling the hot item can be great if you are in on it early, but selling items just because someone said something is a bad mistake that can cost you.

There are plenty of products, no millions of products out there to be found that the market is not flooded with. We learned our lessons very early on, sell the product that goes with the hot or in product, do our research, are there 5000 of the same items listed or being sold, what is the price?

What can I buy it for? In our research we always find more products then we have time to sell, we never run out of items that are niche products that we are able to run with.
