White flour is made from wheat that has had the bran removed. The bran is an excellent source of fiber, vitanims and minerals. Whole wheat flour is made from the whole wheat kernal, so you're getting the added benefit of the bran.
Researchers believe that eating foods made from whole wheat may play a role in preventing many diseases, including cancer, hear disease, constipation and diverticulosis.
But don't tell the kids its good for them. You know what that will do!

Whole Wheat Bread Recipe using the Bread Machine
1 1/2 tbsp sugar
2 1/4 cups bread flour
1 1/2 tbsp dry skiim milk
3/4 cup flour, whole wheat
4 1/2 tsp shortening or sweet butter
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 cups plus 1 Tbsp lukewarm water
Method
Put the dry yeast into the bread machine's inner pot. Add the remaining ingredients except water. Pour in the lukewarm water. Press the start button, using the white bread selection button.
When cooked, remove, cool and slice.

3 pk yeast
1 tbsp sugar
8 cups scalded milk
2/3 cups shortening
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup molasses
2 tbsp salt
12 cups whole wheat flour
Method
Scald milk and set aside to cool. Dissolve yeast in 23 cups water. Dissolve 1 cup of sugar in the hot milk.
In a large bowl, stir all ingredients. Turn out onto a floured kneading board and knead for five minutes. Add more flour if necessary.
Let rise in a warm room until double in bulk. This takes about one and a half hours or two hours. Knead down and shape into six loaves. Let rise again in the pans until doubled.
Bake at 375 degrees F. for for 40 minutes. Turn onto a wire rack to cool. Slice thiis whole wheat gread recipe when cool.

This is a quickbread, chemically leavened
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup crushed bran cereal with raisins
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup cranberries, chopped
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup melted margarine or vegetable oil
Method
Preheat oven to 350F.
Combine flours, bran cereal, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda,and nuts; mix well.
Combine cranberries and granulated sugar. Stir sugared cranberries, egg, milk, orange juice, and margarine into flour mixture all at once. Stir just to mix Do not over stir.
Pour into greased 9x5x3%u2033 loaf pan. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until the bread is dry when tested with a tester or toothpick.
Cool in pan 10 minutes. Then, turn on on rack, placing your whole wheat bread recipe on the long side. Cool.
