Organic? I Feel Fine!
I believe health, excluding religion for those who has one, is the most important aspect of our life to all of us.
So is organic necessarily means a healthier lifestyle choice? Why would I spend so much more money on organic food?
Studies have shown organic can contain as much as 5 times more nutrients and vitamins than its non-organic counterpart. But it's not just about what it contains, it is also what it doesn't contain. Organic are grown without hormones, artificial pesticides and herbicides.
Do you truly believe these chemicals has no negative effects on your health? If you eat organic pesticides, will you die? Then why can you eat a little of them? Will you eat your food if there's a little bug in it? Then why is it not discouraged like cigarrete are?
So What Is Organic?
The main difference between organic food and non-organic is that organic produce are grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms, hormones and anything man-made. Meaning they must be all natural. The term "all natural", however, has been widely misused. Non-organic produce can be labeled as "all natural" but they have no organic seal, avoid them.
Organic food is produced according to a set of strict rules and standards like how fertile the soil is, the growing mixture of the crops, animal welfare and sustainability. In other words, organic farmers try to grow everything they have as naturally as possible. Animals do not take antibiotics, growth hormones and is not confined to a small space their whole life.
Advantages Of Organic
Consuming only organic produce protects you children. Children today are consuming 4 times more pesticides than we did when we were their age.Pesticides also contaminates the ground water of 38 states in the United States, which accounts for about half the primary source of drinking water for the nation.
Producing synthetic chemicals for fertilizers used up about 12% of the total energy usage in the United States. It is the largest consumer of energy as an industry. Organic farming do not use synthetic fertilizers thus can save a significant amount of energy.
Eating pesticide laden produce increases your chances of developing common diseases like cancer and nerve damage. Consuming pesticides has also been associated with birth defects and genetic mutation.
But it doesn't end there. Consuming organic food is not just beneficial to individuals but also the economy as a whole. Organic produce appears more expensive because the government did subsidies organic farmers like they did for conventional farmers. Our tax dollars on the other hand, are used to clean up the mess conventional farming causes like contamination, health issues, environmental damage and waste disposal.
But hey! I don't care! Even if you don't care for the environment, your health and your children's health, you should STILL eat organic simply because it tastes better! Do you want to eat better and taste better? You can try to switch to organic for 2 weeks and try your normal beef again.

How Do I Know Which Is Organic?
For something to be organic, it has to be certified 100% organic. If certified organic, it is only made up of at least 95% organic ingredients.
"Made with organic ingredients" means it contains at least 70% organic ingredients with strict restrictions on the other 30%.
Those with less than 70% are not allowed to have any claims on the front package to have anything to do with "organic" buy may list any organic ingredients at the side.
The term "natural" are not regulated by government. You can BET 99% of the companies using "all natural" or "natural" is lying. That's pure BS.
