Why should we rate every lens we read and what does rating do to those lenses?

The five stars we see on the top area of every lens aren't just for decoration. They play an important role. A lens' rating is one of the factors that determines its LensRank compared to other lenses. I'm sure you already know that. Unfortunately in my short history as a lensmaster, I've come across some really good lenses that are ranked very low while others on the same subject with lesser quality are ranked much higher. So in this lens I am asking everyone to rate majority of the lenses you read, if not all of them, because it is important and here are my reason:

Rating makes good lenses easier to find

When we search for a certain keyword on Squidoo, the lenses related to the that keyword with highest LensRanks will show up at the top and ones with lowest LensRank will appear last. Since giving a 5* rating increases its LensRank, we play our part in pushing the good, informative, entertaining and the yummy lenses to the top and a 1* rating sinks the not so good and yukky ones. That way the next time we search for that keyword/term, the good lenses will be easier to find as they will appear first.

Rating rewards lensmasters for their work

By rating lenses we reward lensmasters for all their time and efforts for making such good lenses. First reward is a pat on their back and a smile on their faces. It makes their day, specially when they've just started with Squidoo. Secondly, it increases lensrank which in turn makes their lenses easier to find and that means more traffic, and more traffic means more cash for some, more money for charity for some, and more traffic to their own sites/blog for others.

"... and it only take 2 seconds to rate a lens, I promise!!"

On top of that, ONLY LENSEMASTERS CAN RATE!

You need to be a lensmaster to rate a lens, the folks that find us through Google don't that privilege (unless they choose to sign up, of course), so it's kind of out job and responsibility to rate a lens once we read. I'm we all can spare 2 seconds to rate when we have a few minutes to read it in the first place, can't we?

A note to lensmasters who are voted down (i.e. 1*)

Please don't get offended by that. It is a way of telling you that your lenses need improvements. It shows that others care about you. "You are really in trouble when people close to you stop criticizing you. It means they've given up." That's a quote from a movie I can't remember its name right no

Do you think this lens worthy of 5*?

Tell us what you think ans start rating lenses

There seems to be little reason to many ratings - perhaps this lens will help.
