Find Out More About Wick in Caithness, Scotland

Wick is located in the far North of Scotland in the County of Caithness.

The Royal Burgh of Wick was built upon the herring fishing boom days of the 1800's. Since the decline of the fishing the towns fortunes have come and gone a bit. To make matters worse, the decline of the white fishing and demise of the harbours fortunes the last 20 or so years has reflected badly on the town.

However, fortunes tend to be cyclical and many expect the town to be starting to climb the ladder of another boom with many new stores relocating to Wick and the inhabitats are poised to make the most of this new found prosperity.

The Wick Harbour area is also going through a period of reconstruction and development to bring it into the 21st century and if all the new proposed development come to fruition then Wick will, once again be a prosperous and vital link in Scotlands chain.

There are many beautiful areas and sights to be seen in and around the town which has long made it popular with tourists.  A popular feature of the town is its distillery where the world famous Old Pulteney Whisky is distilled.

Come and visit our remarkable town, steeped in history with its friendly population and enjoy a well deserved break.
