Here is a look at the tools you may require, and what each of these tools can help you accomplish.
Hand Tools
For making jewelry the WigJig way we divide the tools required into a few basic categories. We have hand tools and our WigJig tools. We also have mandatory tools and optional tools.
Let's start with a discussion of the hand tools required. The mandatory hand tools required are shown below. You will not be successful in making jewelry without these four jewelry making hand tools. You can find a flush cutter, round nose pliers and chain nose and bent chain nose tools in one of our beginners jewelry tool kits.
Flush Cutter
(for cutting wire)
Round Nose Pliers
(for making loops)
Chain Nose or Bent Chain Nose Pliers (2) (for grasping, holding and bending wire)
The recommended jewelry making hand tools are the following:
Nylon Jaw Pliers (for straightening wire and flattening wire components)
Ruler (for measuring wire) (not shown)
Step Jaw Pliers (for making loops with standard sizes)
Chasing Hammer (for hardening wire components)
Anvil or Bench Block (for hardening wire components)
Cup Bur (for rounding the end/removing the burrs on cut wire)
Loop Closing or Bent Closing Pliers (for closing loops)
