This lens was designed to go along with a Z. Smith Reynolds Library tech talk: "Introduction to Wikis" presented on June 14, 2006 at 11:00am.

Wikis are web applications that allow users to add content, as on an Internet forum, but also allow anyone to edit the content. Come to this class to see examples of wikis and learn more about how to create and use wikis.

What?

Why?

the good

  • Asynchronous
  • One stop information
  • Easily editable
  • See common questions
  • Gives people a chance to contribute

Why?

the bad

  • Anyone can edit it
  • Learning software
  • Decisions! (budget, hosting, roll-out, publicity, training)

I set this wiki up in conjunction with another presentation I gave. It has no purpose other than to provide people with a place to experiment. Don't worry about messing anything up... it's just a place to play!
