Emotional Baggage: Thoughts on my latest fishing trip
Now I usually try not to think too much but every now and then my old brain goes into insane mode and I have to rant and ramble a little to get it back into a more normal frame of mind. My latest attempt to venture into the wilds of the dating world brought me a little confusion, and not being of too sound a mind in the first place, I figured that I would share my confusion with anyone who would dare to listen.
So for those of you with a slightly warped sense of humor and a good strong heart, here it is guys, my thoughts on my latest fishing trip.
The Fishing Trip
Now it isn't that I wouldn't like to have a somewhat better attitude toward dating. I really do try, but I am starting to look at searching for men like going fishing, and unfortunately I seem to be in a catch and release program. It goes kind of like this, I throw out the line and, they start swarming around the little wormy thing till one gets up enough courage to bite. Then bang, he is on the line and fighting. He gives in a little and then starts squirming around again like his fate could be one worse than death. (He's probably right but who be I to let him know that he might be correct in his assumptions and encourage his escape.)
From there his behavior usually seems to alternate in a continuous cycle from salmon to sucker and back again. We play the game till I decide that it is getting late and I am really getting tired of not knowing whether I am getting the salmon or the sucker. So this is where the release program comes into effect and I say "bye bye little fishy, swim as fast, and as far away from me as you can get."
But enough of the fish stories. It's time to get serious. Back to this emotional baggage thing.............

It's not the size of the boat that matters...it's who is fishing in it with you!
Emotional baggage....Me?
I'm discovering that this type of luggage definitely comes in colors; blue would have to be the depression, green the jealousy which of course is usually accompanied by a lot of mistrust. Red, oh that would definitely be the rage, the "I would just as soon break your arm as let you put it around me" syndrome. White, pure innocent white, I don't think people with emotional baggage buy that color. It gets dirtied up too fast. Pink is the "I think I'll try to be pretty today" and purple is the "Look at me like that again and I rip your eyes out of their sockets" color. Yeah, luggage definitely comes in colors.I've also discovered that single women are not the only ones carrying a lot of baggage around with them, however there is a difference in the types of luggage that men and women carry around with them. Or as one fellow explained to me, "Mine is merited anger." Now I am not too sure that I really understand the difference between anger that is considered to be emotional baggage and merited anger which is not but, I decided not too question that comment too deeply. Swim little fishy swim. I'll save my optimism for the next fishing trip.
Emotional baggage me?
I'm pretty sure that my bags are packed for a trip to Europe..........
Have a great day out there guys!

Secret Love
By Ladymermaid
We've all had them, those secret loves that for one reason or another we can't bring ourselves to tell anyone about, not even the person that we desire. Secret loves that live in our hopes, dreams and imaginations, but for some reason or another never manage to develop into anything more.He or she may be married, too old or too young, a coworker, or someone from the wrong side of the tracks. Whatever the reason for our unrequited loves, they happen, and then we find the courage within ourselves to move on with our lives.
My over creative imagination couldn't help but dwell on this subject a little more than it should have, and that is where this little tale of love gone wrong, has come from....Read Full Article.

Coping With The Stress Of Dating........
By Ladymermaid
Dating can be hard on the old heart. The stress can be overpowering to the point that you start thinking that it might be better to just forget the whole idea of getting out there and trying to find someone to help fill up those lonely hours. You find yourself confronting fears of acceptance and rejection that you didn't even know existed. You are suddenly very aware of all the little creases and wrinkles that have appeared in your body over time. You start examining the tiny fibers of your personality and discover that you really aren't a great conversationalist, nor do you have an amazing array of interesting hobbies, or talents.
Dating can definitely bring out all those feelings of insecurity that you thought you had abandoned back in childhood .......Read Full Article.
