Wine gifts
When I came to the end of my University Degree I decided to buy my favourite Economics lecturer, Mr. Farrell, a gift. He helped me get through my final year offering patience, clarity and support when I was at the end of my tether, so he deserved a good present.
I racked my brains for something he would appreciate and just couldn't come up with anything.
I asked other lecturers and one of them told me that he went on monthly wine tasting evenings, so a wine gift would probably be appropriate.
I should have guessed by his red shiny nose that he liked a good glass or two.
Back then the internet wasn't as accessible as today and you certainly couldn't buy wine online so I went into my local off license to ask whether they could help.
They said they could give me a selection of wines but they couldn't create wine gift baskets and when I saw the brands they chose I decided to pass. I had a little feeling Blue Nun and Liebfraumilch weren't regular tipples for Mr. Farrell!
I managed to find a fine wine merchant down a little alley in town where a little old lady who had owned the place for years put an amazing selection of wines into a wonderful gift basket for me.
I'll never forget the look on Mr. Farrell's face when I presented him with the gift. It had cost me a lot (in student terms) but it was worth every penny.
If you are looking to buy a gift for someone I would definitely recommend wine gifts
