Winnie the Pooh Cake Pan
Aluminum Winnie the Pooh cake pan measures approximately 13 3/4 x 7 3/4 x 2 inches and fits one standard cake mix.

For this cake you'll also need the following supplies:

• Wilton Decorating Bags and Couplers or Parchment Triangles
• Decorating Tips 3, 16, 21
• Wilton Winnie the Pooh Icing Color Set
• Wilton Lemon Yellow Icing Color
• Wilton Cake Board
• Cornstarch
• One box of cake mix
• 4 1/2 cups buttercream icing

For best results, keep the prepared icing refrigerated when you're not using it. This buttercream recipe can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. When you're ready to use it after keeping it refrigerated, whip again for a few minutes. Makes 3 cups. Thin the icing with light corn syrup for icing cake or use as prepared for decorating.

• 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
• 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
• 4 cups (1 lb.) sifted confectioners' sugar
• 2 tablespoons milk
• 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract

Cream butter and shortening with electric mixer. Add vanilla. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often. When all sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry. Add milk and beat at medium speed until light and fluffy.

For a simple but fun and festive Winnie the Pooh birthday cake idea, cover any cake with pale blue frosting and add splotches of white frosting to look like clouds. Add a Pooh figurine, candle, or cake topper, and surround him with balloon candles. Even inexperienced bakers can make easy Winnie the Pooh cakes like this one!

Another easy Winnie the Pooh birthday cake idea is even simpler. Make a round cake and two cupcakes, or cut a large circle and two small circles out of a sheet cake. Arrange the three cakes to look like Pooh's head and ears, and cover them with yellow frosting.
