Since the time of childhood you have always felt the need to do something. Even when you didn't know what you could or should do, you still were compeled to take some action. So you made it up as you went along. If you think about it you are still doing this today. Much of this instinct goes back to a time when survival was in question. This is the reason we developed the instinct for sex. Something could select you to be on the menu today, so you needed to be able to make it to tomorrow. Early man had to practice, train, or play to live another day. There was also the matter of tracking down your own dinner. Comming in second was not a option. So it became hotwired into our nature that we had to be ready at all times to move into action. At that time we had more at stake than "win or go home." And this drive continues today.

Game Theory

When you find yourself in a situation at odds with the interests of another, you enter the realm of Game Theory. Simply put there are 5 principles involved. First each player has available to them at least 2 moves or plays. Other wise there would be no choices. Second all combinations of plays leads to a win, lose, or draw. Third each player can reach the end game. Fourth each player knows how to play the game, and knows something about the other players.
And finally each player will act in their own self interests. If any one of these 5 is off it will affect the outcome of the game. You must be certain you have this knowledge.

Framework

In any game, sport, or contest, there are rules and regulations. This is needed because it is assumed that all who participate want to win.
If everyone could do whatever they wanted there would be chaos. And no possible way of knowing when the contest was concluded. Or even who wins.
In addition to everyone knowing the rules, in some cases there are also coaches, and trainers.
To ensure the rules are followed there is one or more referee. This system has been in place for hundreds of years.
There are 3 components all are to aspire to. Class, style, and sportsmanship. The best are referred to as Champions.
The worst are referred to as cheaters. Those who continue to cheat are considered un-fit to continue.
In America the children are taught these values at a early age. In fact it could be said that cheating is considered Un-American.
