Combining high winds, heavy snow and freezing rain Winter Storms are among natures most impressive. From downing power lines to creating impossible driving conditions these storms remind us of how powerful mother nature truly is..

After The Storm

Lake effect snow is a weather phenomenon that occurs when arctic air sweeps across The Great Lakes of North America. This happens early in winter when the waters of the lakes are still fairly warm. The winds pick up water vapors, which then freeze and are deposited in and around coastal areas.

Remember, you should avoid driving when road conditions are bad. If you don't really need to go out, don't!

There is a new group being formed in Squidooville. It's called A Walk in the Woods. Because you have done such a nice job with your lens Whitefoot the Wood Mouse is inviting you to join him in this new venture. The exposure that your lens gets by joining will boost your lens rank and add to the number of web pages linking to your lens. Come take A Walk in the Woods. Posted March 28, 2008 |

Hey, I love this lens. Growing up in Southwest Michigan, I can definitely relate to this lens. I happen to love a good snowstorm. The last real good one we had around here was the one that started New Years Eve 1998 and went on into the new year - 1999. Roads were not plowed for a few days :) Posted November 08, 2007 |
Snuggle up with your loved ones and sip on some delicious hot chocolate!
Remember board games? Waiting out the storm is a great time to renew your interest.
Sit back relax and read aloud to the family.
