Puppy LoveThink of all the things you can make with wire coat hangers. This lens gives lots of webite links to help you decide on how to use all those wire coat hangers you have hanging in your closet. This project is called Puppy Love because this little puppy lopks so loveable. What's not to love about this little begger? "Want a treat"? Isn't it funny how dogs seem to be able to understand that question? If you would like to try this project just click on the image and you'll be taken to the directions.

One reason a dog can be such a comfort when you're feeling blue is that he doesn't try to find out why. ~Author Unknown

Wreath Making Supplies

things you'll need

Making wreaths is so easy if you have the right tools. If you like to decorate with wreaths, you'll want to make one for each season of the year. There is real satisfaction with decorating with things you have made yourself. One of the most important tools when making wreaths is to have a good wirecutter and plier combination. There is nothing more frustrating than fighting to cut the wires or stems of flowers or picks to add to your wreath. Below are tools that I think are a "must have" to make wreaths.

Halloween Coat Hanger and Bags Wreath

decorate your door

halloween-black-and-orange-wreathCraftsbits has this really nice weather resistant Halloween wreath made with a wire coat hanger, plastic orange tablecloth and black plastic bags. I think this is an outstanding wreath that will last for years to come. For more pictures, a supplies list and directions click on the image to the right or on the site name.

Perky Turkey

using a wire coat hanger

Perky TurkeyThanksgiving is the season of turkeys and in order to celebrate that noblest (and tastiest) of birds, we dedicate this space to him, Perky Turkey.
A wire coat hanger is the skeleton of this turkey. Make him one sided and hang him on the wall, or finish both sides to hang him from the ceiling.
Prove to all the turkeys out there that we love him on or off the table. Click on the image for directions on how to make this project.

How many cooks does it take to stuff a turkey?
One, but you really have to squeeze him in!

Hunny Bunny

Hunny BunnyHunny Bunny is such a little cutie! You can use it as an appropriate Easter decoration or Hunny could be hung in a nursery or child's room anytime. Another inexpensive decoration that is easily made and looks more expensive and difficult to make than it is. If you want to make only one of the wire coat hanger animals, this is the one to make. Daddy Long Legs

I don't like daddy-long-legs crawling on my wall, but I do love this one. I can't wait to make one. Find the directions for this project at Crafts 'n Coffee.

Hanging Scarecrow

using a wire coat hanger

Hanging ScarecrowThere's one thing that most of us have plenty of and that is wire coat hangers. You know the saying that states that coat hangers reproduce in the closet. Well, this is a wire coat hanger project just in time for Halloween. The patterns are for a two sided project, but if you want, you can use the patterns for (Side I) only. To find the directions for this, "Hanging Scarecrow," click on the image.

The most difficult Halloween trick is to get the treats and the kids to come out even.

House Mouse

using a wire coat hanger

House MouseThis is the only kind of mouse you want, or would let, in your house. All you need to make this cute little mouse is a wire coat hanger, some construction paper and colored markers. Who wouldn't love to hang our "House Mouse" in their home or classroom? The kids love making these coat hanger animals and even more love to see them displayed. Click on the image to the right and you'll be taken to the directions.

Hick Chick

using a wire coat hanger

Hick ChickSo you don't know if the chicken came before or after the egg, right? Here we have Hick Chick that sort of looks like he got stuck between the two phases. Hick is very easy to make and a whole lot of fun to assemble and then hang on the wall. Who would have beleived that making things with old wire coat hangers could be this much fun. Click on the image to the right and you'll get directions on how to make Hick Chick.

Pumpkin Bumpkin

using a wire coat hanger

Pumpkin BumpkinOh, what fun it is to make jack-o-lanterns! This pumpkin is just waiting for different expressions. Can you imagine how many teeth and grins a group of kids could think up? The main ingredient in this project, "Pumpkin Bumpkin," is the wire coat hanger. Orange and black construction paper finish it to perfection. Speedy, the Turtle

using a wire coat hanger

Speedy, the TurtleSometimes the hardest thing about making something from a wire coat hanger is bending it in the shape you want. You'll find that shaping Speedy the Turtle isn't difficult at all. We made this project with wallpaper, but If you don't have wallpaper, you might try wrapping paper. Or a brown paper sack, decorated like a shell, or maybe even with flowers. Let your imagination lead you. Click on the image to the right for the directions.

Singer Sewing Machine

a great heavy duty machine

SINGER 4423 Heavy Duty Model Sewing Machine

Amazon Price: $152.99 (as of 02/23/2012)Buy Now

I would highly recommend this Singer sewing machine with it's heavy duty metal interior frame and heavy duty motor. It sews through about anything. It has a high presser foot lifter which really helps when you are sewing through multiple layers of fabric. I also like the easy top-drop bobbin system, it's adjustable tension, free arm and 3-needle positions. These are the features that have impressed me the most, although this machine has other features also.
