Here is my thoughts on why we all do this. There is some sort of satisfaction of buying something at a Rock Bottom Price. No matter how long it takes, some of us are determined to find what we are looking for at the absolute best price. For me hitting that submit pay button after a long search is like scoring a touchdown. you finally made it to the endzone.

If you have ever noticed , the bigger the purchase. the longer we sit there and search. I'm talking days sometimes. Not kidding.
