My 10 Purple Star Lenses

As if becoming a Giant Squid isn't enough, Squidoo awards your best lenses (pages) Purple Stars. If you see a lens that just "WOWS" you, send an email to purplestar@squidoo.com and nominate it!

Normally, you must be a Giant Squid to receive a Purple Star, but this year Purple Stars were awarded to non-Giants on the anniversary of the 1st Purple Star Awards. A contest was held and a Queen was chosen. See the details at Purple Star Day 2010.

A New Purple Star Opportunity

For All Squidoo Lensmasters

Purple Stars at Squidoo!

Squidoo has opened the Purple Star Awards to all Squidoo Lensmasters this Memorial Day Weekend! All you have to do is write a lens by midnight on May 31, 2010, publish it, and nominate it at purplestar@squidoo.com. That's right, you can nominate your own lens!

I became a Giant Squid in January, 2010 and almost immediately received a Purple Star. The excitement was almost overwhelming. I was one proud lensmaster! So, how do YOU become a Giant Squid?

First of all, you need to be a member of Squidoo. Join here!

Now that you've joined, you need to get started writing lenses (pages). You'll need 50 great lenses to become a Giant Squid. The Squid Team has written this page to help you get started - Getting Started On Squidoo. It is packed full of information and answers to FAQ.

The lenses featured below will also help you write great lenses and show you what you need to do to join the elite group of Giant Squids.

If you write a truly exceptional page, you may receive the Lens of the Day award. It is regarded by many as the highest award Squidoo gives out. If you consider that there are over 1 million Squidoo pages and only 365 are given each year, then you would probably agree. (This compared to about 1000 Purple Star awards granted annually.)

Squid Angel blessings are one of the Squidoo awards that help your lenses climb in standing. The Squid Angels are a volunteer group of lensmasters that read new lenses and give their "blessings" to those they like. Blessings have been referred to by many phrases like spreading some angel love, sprinkling you with angel dust, or just plain, blessings to you.

I love to get Angel blessings. It warms my heart to know they feel my lens is a good one. I have a lens dedicated to all the SquidAngel blessings I have received. As of this writing, I have 50 of my 145 lenses that have been blessed. Many of them have been blessed by more than one angel.

I hope you will visit SquidAngels Have Blessed Me.
