Why am I here and what am I doing?

First off, here are my reasons for joining Squidoo:

1. I'd used it before when searching for information, and it proved quite useful to me, so wished to give something back.

2. I love trying new things, and this seems like one of the best places to hear about them while being on one!

3. I'm fed up of not having my own voice. So, yes, the internet has the potential to let everyone have their say. The more difficult thin is trying to get someone to listen, and that is my goal on here.

4. I wanted to share with you all the things that get me through my day, one at a time, and hopefully update regularly. My target was to be every day, but that may get a little tedious. Whenever something important comes my way, I'll let you all know!

5. I recently completed my GCSE's, and without something to do it would be a long summer!

So all this amounts to what I am doing now.

I have decided to bring to you a list of the top 5 things online that I could not live without.

In short they are:

1. Googlemail

2. Firefox

3. Skype

4. Agloco

5. Ares

Enjoy!

Things I can't live without: #1

Googlemail

Everybody needs an e-mail address to do basically anything online nowadays. It is possible to get them from many places.

You can use, and this is a list of the few most popular:

1. Hotmail.
2. Yahoo.
3. Office Outlook.
4. Mozilla Thunderbird.
5. Pegasus Mail.

Many of these are fairly good, providing a large volume of free space (some up to 2 GB), and a rather reliable service.

Obviously, they all have their flaws; i.e. Hotmail is extremely unreliable (as are many windows products I hasten to add).

The only e-mail client I have had no problems with, is undoubtedly Googlemail.

There is a huge list of features attached to googlemail, all integrated brilliantly into the system to make for fast, easy use.
Features include:

*All the bog standard functions of a free e-mail client.
*Starring system, to make the most important mail stand out, and easily found.
*3 GB storage space, and rising.
*Labelling (which can later be searched for.)
*Mail search.
*Archiving.
*"Chat" function, to view mails from one contact all together as a conversation.
*Different viewing options: "All, None, Read, Unread, Starred, Unstarred".
*And FULL integration with all other Google applications and services!

Personally, I have never had a problem with Googlemail, and believe I never shall encounter one.

For me it is the perfect e-mail client, and some other Google Apps will be appearing here shortly!

Things I can't live without: #2

Firefox

Once again, Mozilla Firefox is a program with many rivals.
And, again, I still believe it to be the best of the bunch.

In opposition to other browsers such as:

1. Internet Explorer.
2. Netscape.
3. Opera.
4. Safari.
5. Lynx.

Firefox wins, hands down.

As I showed you with Googlemail, here is a list of all the features Firefox has to offer:

*Stumbleupon - A small button which you click to go to a random website submitted to Stumbleupon; you can even submit yours and get millions of new hits on your site!
*Tabs for viewing multiple web pages.
*Theme changes, to make it look however you want.
*Advanced functions in history to allow you to open recently closed tabs and more!
*Amazing bookmark functions, better than any I have come across before.

There are too many functions to list to be perfectly honest.

And, many of them, I am still yet to discover; Firefox continues to amaze me, and I have been using it for years!

My advice is to download it here: http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/firefox/
It's free, so you have nothing to lose!

Things I can't live without: #3

Skype

Skype, too, has much competition in the instant messaging/online calling services.

Much of this competition comes from:

1. Msn.
2. Yahoo IM.
3. AIM.
4. Myspace IM.
5. Windows Live Messenger.

Personally, I believe that Skype is the best around.

Once again, it does all the things the others do, and much more!

It is a hundred times more reliable in my experience of all the others that I have used at some point; especially MSN and Windows Live Messenger, which are complete and utter pants in comparison.

If you need to arrange something with you friends, give someone a call, or just feel like some idle chat, it is by far the most reliable and sophisticated way of doing so.

There are also a number of extra features such as:

*Contacts backup.
*Conference calling.
*Voicemail.
*Call forwarding.
*SMS messaging. (Requires payment)
*Sketchpad.
*Media sharing.
*Video Avatar.
*Application sharing.
*Call recorder.
*Customizable radio.
*Other downloadable applications as well!
*You can change or download ringtones.
*Even start a public chat to talk with the world!
*Call other Skype users. (No payment required)
*Call landlines. (Requires payment)

(It also looks pretty!)

There's not really a lot else for me to say; it pretty much sells itself.

Things I can't live without: #4

Agloco

Agloco stands for: A Global Community.

It is a site that I have managed to find no comparison for.

I have been using it for many months now, and have come to realise its potential.

Essentially, you get to "Own The Internet", as the site puts it many a time.
All you do is download the "Viewbar", a small toolbar with a handy Google Search button, and surf the net to accumulate "hours".

The more "hours" you accumulate, the more money you'll get; you get paid for surfing the net as you would normally do.

Here is an example of the hours I have accumulated so far:

To join, all you need is a current E-mail address, a home address and your name; it's absolutely risk free and sign-up doesn't cost you a penny!

If you are sceptic about how this works, and believe it's a scam, then visit the site http://www.agloco.com/BBFM2609 for more details.
It explains clearly the concept of Agloco, and why it works.

Things I can't live without: #5

Ares

Ares, like many of the others has a lot of competition out there. Unfortunately, most people choose the competition, mainly to ignorance to Ares existence and widespread use of Limewire which is, in truth, not a patch on Ares.

Here is a list of the biggest competitors, then I will do the usual of convincing you why Ares is better, by far:

1. eDonkey.
2. Shareaza.
3. WinMX.
4. BitTorrent.
5. Limewire.

Most of these I have had little experience with, but I know for a fact that Limeware is shabby work in comparison to Ares.

As well as everything Limewire does, Ares boasts:

*Its own file sharing programs.
*Simplicity.
*Chat service using your own Ares nickname.
*No adware.
*Fast connection times.
*Millions of users to share files with.
*Control panel for completing customizing your filesharing experience, even including downloadable skins.

Due to all of this, Ares is my personal choice to "share" whatever files I need.

I am not condoning downloading music illegally, but Ares would be perfect for such an act, should you wish to do so; like the scoundrel you may or may not be.

It has served me well, also posing as a program with great stability, I have had trouble only once with this program, and at that moment in time the whole network had been affected; every program has it's bugs, and I was more than impressed by the swift reaction of the Ares team!

If you wish to download Ares, it can now be found at: http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/

Bulletbutter

I took your advice about Ares, downloaded it and using it right now at the moment. I also took your advice about agloco. I have heard a lot about this up and comming company. I read their site and they are the former owners of AllAdvantage. Back when they were still around, I made $50 from them.
