As a fan of Catherine Coulter, I was so excited to see this book.
It involves a woman with no memory of who she is, going by the name of Rosalind de la Fontaine, who finds herself attracted to the mysterious Nicholas Vail. Her adopted brother, Greyson, is given a legendary magical book written in code, which Rosalind is able to read while Greyson and Nicholas cannot. This starts them down the mysterious path of learn what the Pale is, and ending in a terrifying journey there for Rosalind and Nicolas. Will they survive their journey, and what strange creatures will they meet along the way?
You'll want to read this book, even if you haven't read the other Sherbrooke books, because it works as a stand-alone book very well. If you are a fan of the Sherbrooke series though you'll HAVE to read it, to see what new things are going on with this amazing family of characters.

- This book is very interesting at the beginning, but disappointment starts somewhere close to the middle of the book. It seems like a draft book, never really finished. The dialogs are so dull, like in the very cheap theater play. You just want to add a little bit more sense to all.
