Wladimir "Steelhammer" Klitschko
Ranked #11,181 in Culture & Society, #223,203 overall
Wladimir Klitschko WBO, IBF, IBO Heavyweight Champion
Haye's people kept promising they would fight, needed more time, and said they only needed a week, then two, then, well you get the idea. Wladimir couldn't take his word on whether the fight would happen at all and instead of not fighting and making the fans of the sold out arena reschedule he decided to fight someone, and that someone ended up being Chagaev.
Although Chagaev was the WBA "champion in recess", the fight did not have the WBA belt on the line. Wladimir ended up easily defeating Chagaev by TKO, and later it was discovered that he had an injury prior to the fight but decided to go with the fight with Chagaev anyway. Because of this, Wladimir had to have minor surgery and did not fight the rest of 2009.
Wladimir Klitschko will be fighting though on March 20th against top ranked American heavyweight Eddie Chambers in Germany. Wladimir also says he plans on fighting 3 times this year to make up for the slow year of 2009. Stay tuned for more information...
Klitschko vs.Chambers On March 20th
Chambers' only loss is to the undefeated and IBF mandatory Alexander Povetkin, and since then has improved in my eyes, in they eyes of many boxing analysts, and other boxers. He was also winning the fight with Povetkin up until he started to slack off according to him and others. Chambers is also coming off solid wins over former WBC champion Samuel Peter and the former WBO mandatory Alexander Dimitrenko.
This should be a good fight. Look for this to be a harder fight than what Wladimir would expect from Povetkin, and should be similar to Wlad's fight with Byrd in my opinion.

Fight I'd Like To See -- Valuev vs Wladimir Klitschko
This is a fight I'd like to see happen. With Klitschko holding 2 major title belts and 1 minor he should have more negotiating stock to make this happen. Valuev now has the WBA belt and has stated publicly before that he'd like to face either Klitschko.
I think Wladimir would defeat Valuev but it would bring out more of his arsenal than we're used to seeing. That's what fight fans like myself want to see. We want to see a fighter use his full potential and not just what will win the fight. With Valuev I believe it would be forced out of him due to the size difference.

- Honestly I wasn't a fan of Klitschko until the Charles Shufford fight. It's not that I didn't like him before that I just didn't hear that much of him up to that point and that was the 1st fight I had seen of him. Since then I've seen many of his past fights and he is my favorite active heavyweight boxer.
So, I decided to make a Squidoo page on Wladimir since there isn't alot of places on the internet you can go for Klitschko information other than their main site. There main site closed down for awhile this month(february 2008) and their forum still doesn't work. So I figured this would be another alternative fans of Wladimir Klitschko could go to get up-to-date information and express their views. This is a work in progress and is bound to get better, but I hope you enjoy what I have put together thus far.
