Women drivers are the target of humor throughout the world, but it must be said that some women complain to me that the focus might more accurately be on men. Of course, I simply argue that men drivers are not, and have never been a subject of serious humor. So, even if studies prove one thing or another, I don't really care. Sorry, I was just trying to do a three-point turn. Woman crushes neighbour's car

So very, very hard to explain away.

After all, the woman driver of this £18,000 Mercedes was only trying to perform a three-point turn.

But as she found out to her - and her neighbours' - cost there's getting it wrong and getting it very wrong.

So instead of putting her foot gently down on the brake she somehow slammed it on the accelerator and drove up on top of the £10,000 Chrysler Neon parked in a drive in Ashtead, Surrey.

The ensuing noise at just after midnight woke up the car's owner Robert Den-Hartog, 35, and his wife, Claire, who was first to look out of the window.

'She said "Your not going to believe this" so I ran over to the bedroom window and looked out. I just said: "Holy Moses!" and ran downstairs to help the woman out of the car,' he said.

'She couldn't get out of the car because she was about four feet high in her car.'

Mr Den-Hartog, who is originally from America, added: 'I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what happened.'

The primary school teacher said he'd been fast asleep when the crash took place.

'She (the driver) was upset and shaken up but was fine, I thought it might be unstable but it was not, it's actually very stable, they are well and truly wedged together.

'They're solid, they're not going anywhere.'

Mr Den-Hartog said he had no hard feelings towards the female driver who had no injuries.

'This lady who lives a few houses away was simply turning and instead of hitting the brakes, she hit the gas and just accelerated over the car,' he added.

'My wife has a Ford on the drive but she avoided that one.

'Her husband came and we sat up and had a cup of tea together, it was all very British. She was very apologetic. We all just had a laugh about it sitting in the lounge as we waited for the recovery van to come.'

Police officers also arrived but no action was taken.

'I wasn't really angry but you never get the full money back from the insurance and I suppose now I'm going to have to look for a new car. I think mine is pretty much written off.'
