Women's Blue Jeans

The relationship that develops between us and our jeans is a special one. They're our go-to pants for any occasion and we expect a lot of them. We want them to be fashionable, flattering and comfortable.  There are 450 million pairs of denim jeans sold in the US yearly.  That's a lot of jeans. You'd think that it would be much easier than it is finding the perfect pair.

Buying women's jeans isn't always an easy thing to do.  For most women it takes lots of patience and lots of determination.  Let's face it, trying on 4, 5, or even 6 pairs of jeans and not having one of them fit could cause most women to scream "never again". However statistics show that the average woman tries on nine pairs of jeans before she finds a pair that she likes. How does the average woman feel after trying on 9 pairs of jeans?  She most likely wants to pull her hair out. Once she finds the perfect jeans women have been known to buy a dozen pairs.

One of the best cuts of jean for most women is a waistband that sits just below the waist, sometimes called a mid rise jean that have a straight leg.  A waistband that sits just below the waist doesn't have the appearance of "cutting you off" as a waistband that sits at the waist does.  Another way to look thinner in a pair of denim jeans is to avoid fading and feathering. Jeans that have fading at the thighs or around the butt accentuate those areas. Jeans that are a solid dark wash will make you look thinner. If you have a flat butt pockets with detailing on them can help give the look of more fullness, but watch out for pockets that sit very low on the butt.  This happens with a lot of low rise jeans. The pocket actually sits low on the butt and goes down the back of the thigh. These pockets are way too low and don't look good on any figure.
